Shadow Birch

I think it is a mixture of Poa spp. and Festuca rubra. If dry it will burn.

Flowers don't have many btu's!

We have identified everything except the branch that the flowers are on. The focus isn't good but I'd say you are looking at Red Maple. It burns very well.

Ok, few more pics. I've already burned the flowers tonight, so from now on I guess I'll have to use the wood...

I give?

The flowers look like Red Maple, which could be blooming this time of year in VA. Red Maple isn't blooming yet here in central PA, but the sap is running. The bark is very odd for Red Maple. Maybe you have an odd individual tree, or maybe you have a cultivar with odd bark.

Wow! I've never seen maple flower this early!!!!!

I've never seen any deciduous tree blossom/bud/flower/etc... this early period. Our deciduous trees around here don't come out of dormancy until early May!

also, to answer the question in the title, it's wood, so of course it'll burn! :p

Kinda looks a bit like maple
the larger branch/trunk looks maybe like some sort of dogwood ?

Yeah, north, south, east and west of us gets snow. We got like an inch around xmas. Anyways, the wood is all from the same tree. Here's a better pic of the flowers.
