I have a roaring sound in my exhaust blower fan.

Is it all the time or only during certains of running, I would need more info to help you figure it out :)

Thanks for this and it starts after the stove is lit for a few minutes when the exhaust fan speed up. First few minutes it is fine. The stove is 3 years old and haven't been serviced yet. It sounds like hor ror hor ror .

Welcome aboard Randy. Your way overdue on cleaning the entire unit.

Wow, with burning 9 tons of pellets you do need a cleaning, most stoves should be cleaned even 1 to 2 tons is what the owners Manuel says anyways

Dirty stove equals a dirty fan, equals lots of unbalance. And this will kill your bearings.

Ok thanks so is that what is making the noise?

Ummm.... Welcome. And What Stove do you have?

Knowing that may help some?

9 ton without cleaning??? You have Ash Build up in every orifice of that stove. Probably putting severe wear on the combustion blower (bearing?) Knowing what stove will yell is if you have a stove with sealed bearings or if it may need oil?

Have you read anything about the LBT (LeafBlower Trick?) Where you hook a leafblower to the exhaust vent of your stove (outside) and suck the ash out of the stove? You still need to clean the stove and run a brush down the vent...

What is your exhaust set-up? Direct vent? Do you have any vertical? Is it straight up through the roof? Etc?

Leaf blower that is a cool idea, We have a tool called reverse air we use works awesome :) But yeah i would think it needs a cleaning!!!

That's cool. It vents horizontally through the wall and then T's into a piece of vertical pipe that goes almost to my eave and that is where it exhausts.

The Leaf blower has to have the "vacuum" option. But it works awesome.... Clean all internal exhaust traps, ash traps, and brush, vacuum, and scrub everything.... Then hook up the Leaf blower and watch out ;)

How do I clean the exhaust blower? Just undo the bolts and pull it out?

Yep... But have a new gasket on hand. The stock one will more than likely tear upon removal.

(Unplug stove and unplug wires to blower)

Randy, do you have the owner's manual for this stove? If so, does it not address periodic cleaning? If you really have no clue whatever what you're getting into, you may want to hire a professional for this first cleaning and make sure you're there to watch everything that tech does and drive the tech nuts with questions. Sure glad I found this site and all of you nice guys.......... Thanks for your help you are amazing and I'll be back!......... I just emailed the guy who installed my stove to see if he has a gasket that I can buy? .........A gasket came with the stove but I don't know where it belongs? It is 5'' square with a 2 3/4" hole in the middle.

Thanks.
Randy!!

If it looks like this its for the exhaust flange.

If you click the link you can see what the different gaskets look like.

Do I only need to pull the motor from the housing to clean it and not the housing the motor is connected too from the stove? I can't see any gasket there and the motor is only 3" in diameter. Plus where the motor connects to the housing is an opening all the way around for air to come out I guess for cooling.
