I'm gonna try the Leyden out.

I've decided to add a stove to the heat force! I am putting it in the middle of the house in order to heat the place a little more evenly. It was my wifes idea, and she only had one request "it couldn't be another ugly stove". That being said another B-King was out of the question. I've decided to run a Leyden for a while. I thought I would start a little performance thread on the Leyden. I've been very impressed with other Travis products, so why not. I will install it tomorrow night. I'll update with pics as soon as it's in!

Cool - I am looking forward to seeing it installed, also looking forward to reading the review/performance report.

Your wife sounds bit like my wife....no ugly stoves :)

So, why did you get rid of the blaze king and the oslo?

So, why did you get rid of the blaze king and the oslo?
I bought the Oslo for our old house, when we moved to this place it just couldn't keep up. So I sold it and bought the King. My wife had to quit working so I sold the King for the cash. I used it for about 2 seasons, then sold it for what I paid for it. We decided to add a new stove closer to the center of the house, the Olso would have been fine, but it's gone.;em I am able to get the Leyden below cost,so I'm willing to give it a try.

We got a screamin' deal on a Leyden in August. It has been great so far, the only issue is that the doors need to be adjusted, as there are two small areas that don't seal well.. The dealer wanted me to "tap the pins" with a hammer...I said, NO...you can come out and do it! We got the ceramic coated brown model, and it has been wonderful in terms of heat output!!

The Leyden is one of the stoves we seriously considered with our last purchase. They've had a few problems but I think they got them all worked out. Good luck with the stove.

So far I'm very pleased! I have read about people having issues with the stove being uncontrollable, when I move the air control I see instant results. It cruised at 550 for a few hours, this morning it was 300 and had loads of coals left. I'm loving the top load feature as well!

Tonight it's been holding at 600 for several hours! This thing is very easy on wood too! I think I could get used to this.

IMG_7035.JPG Well, after a week of running the Leyden non-stop, I am very pleased! It's very controllable, easy to operate, and gets 8-10 hour burns very easily. I have experienced none of the issues I read about online that others experienced. I hope it continues to run as it should. I'm giving it a rest during this warm weather and letting the Webster Oak have a turn. Happy burning to all.

Webby, my only concern is that you are running that stove hot now but the weather is still not cold. The true test will come in January, or at least if January is normal and not like last year. Hopefully it will do the job then.

I was running it with the lows's in the upper 20's, and it had plenty to spare! I hope it does well when it drops too, I think it will. We never added any wood during the day, only ran it at night. I also added a blower on Sunday to, since it has rear combustion, I thought it might move some very hot air. Even if it lacks a little, I got plenty of back-up stoves.>>

Webby, don't forget the trick of blowing cool air into the stove room rather than trying to move the hot air. It works!

Notice the fan? It's blowing toward the stove. It works very well! We've heated with only wood for 7 years now, and moving the cold air toward the stove has been the best tip yet, i think! We don't have any central heating, so moving the air is key for us.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, and I'm certainly not calling into question your sweep creds, but are you assuring proper clearances there? Looks like it's sitting on hardwood, too.

I'm glad you noticed! It's ceramic tile, I wanted tile that looked like wood flooring and I found it! It also exceeds the clearance to the unprotected wall.

On the Leyden, the CTC is 11" to the collar with single wall and a pipe heat shield and 14" with double wall. I used Dura-vent DVL (free because of the small dent) and used a pipe shield to protect the flue collar.

Webby, that's a sweet-lookin' stove...nice and shiny! Top-loading is very cool, as well. Glad to hear that it's performing well for you. We'll get a chance to test our stoves in winter-like conditions in a few days. I put a Buck 91 in at my MIL's house and one of the best things about it is that she has a couple of tower fans that can be used to move air. You can stick 'em in a hallway or wherever and they don't get in the way much.
Give us an update on how the Leyden does over the next several days...

The Leyden has been doing great so far during this cold snap! We had to open the door to get some cool air tonight. I loaded it up with 2 year old Red Oak about 6 hrs ago and the air has been off for an hour and the stove top is reading 500 deg. I'm loving it so far!

I have the Lopi Freedom insert downstairs and the Leyden pellet stove in brown enamel upstairs on the other end of the house (wife did not firewood detritus throughout the house). Between the two of them they do a great job of heating 2300 sq ft or so.

Im am deffinately a fan of this ( no pun intended) I get another 3-4 degrees in the main living room instatnly by doing this. Last year I had a fan on the mantle blowing the hot air out of the room. Rookies!

I have one tower fan that I use in a hall that leads to the bedrooms on one end and leads to the family room where the stove resides. I can raise the bedroom temps by 10 degrees by running the fan for 1/2 hour - amazing.

It works very well! The outlying rooms will increase by several degrees.
