I pretty sure this is pig nut. Most people on a nice fresh log think they have struck gold. Once they figure out what it takes they will be calling.

Why isn't it split yet :)

I see some really nice boards in that log, Jay! Is that what you are thinking if you get it?

That pick makes it look pretty straight but its not. Home owner has tried to sell it for the last year. I say the same thing everyone that tries to sell it to me. I dont pay for wood but if I ever do it will need to be stacked. ;)

Either you have a small foot or that's a big log! ==c
I agree...bark sez Pignut but like bogydave said, looks as dark as Walnut. Was it growing in a septic field? ;lol

Its got to be close to 30 inch's. Thats pretty small compared to what I normally get. Theres small nuts all over the place. (But I am only about 50 percent on id's):)

Perfect.Just like the ones I like finding. No brush,no garbage & no BS from property owner thinking they have pure gold or expecting a trash removal service.Life is too short.

Jay, it seems no matter where I go I can find lots of nuts.... Many are even scary.

I stop taking b.s. after my first 12 cords in 2006. (Burnt ever stick in one season) 6 years and 72 cords later (Thats just my take) Not counting at-least another 35 cords for friends and family members.. I am quick to leave them my phone number and let them know if things change give me a call. ;)

It is black walnut.......This will be milled and now have my table benches.;) (Tires spun out so thats where she will set)
