What is everyone using for duct on outside air does it need to be insulated to prevent condensation? Thanks
I just have some flexible drier type pipe runs about 10 ft or so across the ceiling in the basement never had a condensation problem- it is not insulated. Harking back to the 70's and mother earth news -installing a make up air system cheap - the run across the ceiling helps to temper the incoming air( read warm it up) before it gets to the stove. The pieces through the floor are alum. adjustable 4" pipe sections , through the wall is plastic pipe, the stuff in between is plastic expandable ( like I said type of drier line.) This was considerably cheaper than the alum expandable pipe and a bit more flexible/ forgiving getting round other stuff in the way. 5 years of time on it no problems.
