Happy New Year!
I'm still plugging along with installation of my wood stove. I think I will be enjoying a nice hot AZ summer before I get it in. Oh well.
It's actually two stoves, one in my basement, another on the ground floor. For the one in the basement, the stove/chimney pipe will go up 31 feet vertically. It will 90 into the wall two feet above the stove, then 90 back vertical on the other side of the wall, then up, up, up.
I have two questions: One, is it possible to have too much draft? 31 feet seems like a lot. . .
Two, I'm looking at a couple of different quotes on chimney pipe--one place quoted me 60" galvanized at $180 each, another quoted me 48" stainless steel at $195 each (both are DuraTech products). Which would be better? I assume the stainless steel will last longer, but is it worth the increased price?
I've attached a picture of my chimney cap, right before I poured it. . .
Thanks.
