Several folks have met my ornery wife and also know she has had some surgery recently and then another one today. She will have one more before this is done. Today was knee surgery. My wife takes pain really great and amazes most doctors. However, she admitted today that as she woke up in recovery, she hurt...bad. She asked and got morphine. I had a 5 1/2 hour wait through surgery, recovery and getting set in the room. On top of that we both had to get up at 4:00 this morning in order to get to the hospital at the required time. Yes, it has been a long day but fortunately she was doing good when I left. I'll just let her rest tonight and head back to the city tomorrow. I've even fed her animals and done some chores she usually does.

I told a couple others so may as well post it here too. Sunday morning we got up late and although I looked and did not see any deer close I went onto the front porch to check the temperature. That is when I saw the deer. Holy cow! A herd. They just stood by the driveway and watched me. I called to my wife and we both watched through the window. She counted them as they crossed the driveway. 21 deer total. Yes, we feel blessed. I also had 4 by the house just about 10 minutes ago but they are gone now.

But, I want to thank all for your concerns over the ornery one. She will appreciate it too.

Best wishes to you both.

Best wishes for her speedy recovery.
I have an ornery wife also. Probably wouldn't have it any other way.

Tell her to get healed up. She has some stacking to do. ;-)

And don't forget to take care of yourself (cuz I know you will take care of her). The care giver is often overlooked.

Hope that she heals fast and the pain lessens.

Give Judy a kiss on the forehead for me......
Best wishes for a speedy recovery... :)

Sorry to hear that your better 3/4's is hurting. Hopefully she'll be back and better than before soon!

Best wisher for a speedy recovery !!

I'll toss in some Dixie & Matisse snuffles for good measure :)

That's half Pen. Half! Thanks Eileen. I'll let her know about that too.

Well, that hurdle is over. May the recovery begin! Tell Judy she'd best get cracking, she's got some goats to meet!! Hope she is feeling less pain real soon.

Ya know HollowHill, she talks about those goats quite often. We may have to pay you another visit so she can play with the goats. Besides, then I'd get to see that beautiful stove!

Dennis,

So sorry to hear about your wife..Best wishes to you both and a speedy recovery..Take good care of yourself as well...Caregivers often neglect themselves...

You and Judy are in my thoughts and prayers...

Regards,

Diane

Thanks for the update....I thought you mentioned that she gave pain........not takes it!

Hope this all comes out OK. These machines of our keep wearing down and down and down....

You are mostly right there Craig.

Thank you Diane

Dennis - I don't visit this forum often, but just noticed your post - I hope your wife is doing well! Cheers!

Hope Judy recovers well and that you have some help around the house during this time....as others have noted, you can't forget about the caregiver.

Your wife sounds like my wife......"tough" and can take pain. My wife had major surgery about 3 weeks ago...and they sent her home with vicadin...she had a rib removed.....one night at dinner she said she was "hurtin", I asked her how long ago she took a vicadin, and she said "well, I had a half of one yesterday" lol.

I know better not to groan when I am hurting, as her pain threshold is about 500% higher than my own.....tough gals rock!

Sorry to sidetrack....I really hope for a healthy and speedy recovery.

Best wishes to you Dennis and Judy.

Sav, tell Judy we said hello and we hope the recovery goes well.

Dennis,
You know that you have people here to help if needed. Just a warning though is that I will NOT fold laundry! I can wash and dry with the best though!

Take care and I wish the both of you the best.

Gary

I don't know Judy but I pray for her to be better soon!

I learned the hard way that, too often, the caregiver's role is to be as tough as the ones they're caring for, and to smile at all the "if there's anything I can do"'s. From one Dennis to another, don't forget to decompress a bit, even if you have to go split wood or hit the driving range for an hour.

My prayers and thought will be with you. As we have discussed before you are blessed with a good one. You married up.
Thought I would throw this out there....We have a good friend that is in our small group bible study. He is scheduled for surgery to remove a growth on the bottom of his foot this Friday. Just found out it is cancerous...would appreciate prayers for him.

Dennis, I hope your wife feels better and has a speedy recovery. -Brian

Getting old is not for the timid. I hope that Judy recovers quickly and sticks with therapy so that the knees are painfree and useful for kicking butt to keep you inline real soon again.

Best wishes & "get well soon"
You guys can team up on a 2 person bike. "The bionic team". One with new knees the other with a new hip . Un-beatable
Wish her a speedy recover from us up here in Alaska. Prayer from here too. :)

Here's to hoping Judy has a quick and speedy recovery . . . and you stay out of trouble in the meantime. ;) :)

Hoping everything works out well for both of you and every day is a better one than the day before.
Funny, just this morning my wife(a nurse) was talking about how much longer she can put off knee surgery.
