I have a 10' long by 6' high wall of 16" oak and ash splits left and a 6' long by 6' highwall of 16" cherry splits left in the barn. Works out to just about an exact cord of wood left - thought I had used more, but I guess I'll be at right around 4 cord for the year (100% wood heat). Not too shabby. I still have about 2 weeks of splits in the garage, and 2 weeks of small rounds/junk in the barn for the rest of the season. Looks like one small fire/day is the name of the game for the next 10 days or so - I might not even use up all the the 'extra' wood. Cheers!

I loaded my woodshed with about 4 1/2 cords for this season and have a little over 2 left, and the forecast for next 10 days is 70s his and 50s los so I am going to be about 2 cords ahead for next year.

I will end up with about 2 left over cords, better for next year! I had 6 put up and have done straight wood, no presto logs.

Started a fire this morning, the temp was just under 30 so we had some nice Beech that we had moved in just over a week ago that is burning just great.

swampy

Looks like it will be cold enough tonight for a fire before we turn out the lights.

Previous thread re: this I mentioned on 3-8-12 that I still had about 1/3 cord of wood left from what I thought would be used in February, and that it would probably last me another week or so..
I still have almost 1/2 of that and temps are staying mid-50's and higher during the day.
I put about 5 1/3 cord in the shed last fall, and right now there's still almost 2 left. Even if I use another cord, I'll still have almost a cord left.
The forecast changed again from yesterday and is now calling for these warm temps to remain for at least the next 15 days.
Small fire in the morning, and another one early afternoon, then another for overnight. Much less wood used.

I've noticed that we haven't seen the usual rash of Help-I've-run-out-of-wood-and-it's-getting-cold-here posts this Spring . . . I would say the warm weather has helped a lot.

I want to come hang out with you for a week over the summer maybe some of your positive attitude will come my way! Everything seems so peachy up there! LOL

Yes - for newbie burners, this is NOT a year to judge a normal amount of yearly wood. Seems like a lot of folks could be 20% down for the year (or more). Cheers!

I would have to measure to be sure but in the previous 4 winters burning the Fireview we used an average of 3 cord per winter. I think we still have about a cord left of that we put in the barn for this winter. For sure the heating season is not yet over but I am just completely overwhelmed by this weather. I've never seen the like of it in my life. Not even mid-March and we have windows open and even the sliding glass door is open. Truly amazing.

+1 Dennis - makes one think whether the climate may be finally showing some change that you can feel, vs. just read about. Cheers!

I agree. Today I went on another bike ride and could hardly believe how loud all the frogs were. I also had to stop and peel off some clothing because it was so warm. It truly felt like a June day out there today and our thermometers, including the car thermometer were in the low 80's!!!! It rarely gets to 80 even in April but this is the first time I've seen it here in March. And this is still in the first half of March.

Have half left of what wood was set aside for this winter. The maples are budding the baby leaves. Lawn turning green. There was a guy water- skiing on the lake near here yesterday and today. I really don't know what to make of this freaky winter. Dennis - did you go swimming? (Heheh -- polar bears.....)

The shed definitely has more unused product this year! I'm not complaining about having the "extra" wood, but being this warm in early March makes me dread the summer to come. I think I'll spend some time this weekend shifting the 2 face cords from the front of the shed (where they get the most sun/wind) to the back, then replace those 2 front face cords with something a little less seasoned from ye olde hay barn.

Had six and a half cord and still have three and a half left not bad at all.

I burned a bit less than last year, but we kept the house much warmer than we ever have before, probabably at least 5* warmer on average. Big difference - I think the family is spoiled. I still have 1 - 1.5 cord left over, maybe more. Over a cord of it is some prime oak that I had planned/expected to burn during the Jan-Feb peak heating time that I just never even bit into so that will be nice to have next year.

I was telling my wife this morning that between no longer playing "get ahead for drying time" and the ultra-light burning year this last winter, I'll have to cut and split the least amount of wood this summer that I ever have since we bought our first stove. I probably only need to cut 2.5 cords this year...

Finally getting to that utopia of being ahead I guess. I will get to be picky about what wood I take. Somehow I can just about imagine that all those tree services I never heard back from over the last couple years are going to finally show up in my driveway with loads of wood though...

We will be on par for the year I think at 3 cords. Or at least I hope so. March has been a cold month here, which is a bummer. Early fruit trees are starting to bloom, but nobody is going to be out to pollinate them.

I burnt 3 cord this year, but also burnt a ton of pellets. I am right out though, and considering what a mild winter it was I am thinking 4 to 5 cord should be about the magic number for me.
