I have never tried trumans, reviews on here seem good, is this the right price?

Curran $220/ton, 4% sales tax, until May 13, 2012.
Kentucky Kernel prepay orders, $235/ton, 4% sales tax, before June 1, 2012.
Turman prepay orders, $265/ton, 4% sales tax, before June 1, 2012.

It seems to be $269 around here (CT). Not much of a discount this year. Last year I paid $249 for the early buy price. I will buy them again even with the higher price.

Is Cortland county charging sales tax? That's not true elsewhere in NYS.

Well, I think it is up to the business. I go to Lowes and they don't. I go to others and they do.. So?
 
To charge or not charge sales tax should not be 'up to the business'. Each state has taxable and non-taxable items - and there should be a list for your state available online. We're in PA, where wood pellets for residential use are non-taxable, according to the PA Department of Revenue. Know your laws! And if you're being charged sales tax on non-taxable items in your state, ask to speak with the store manager. Sometimes we need to educate our retailers :)
 
I know the local Tsc store here charges sales tax on pellets
 
No sales tax on pellets here, but they hammer us on eveything else ;sick

I went through this years ago with a company..NY pellet sellers are supposed to charge 4%, for some reason, what ever that is, LOWES does not charge tax..
