Does anyone have instructions for aligning the lovejoy connector on a Huskee 22 splitter?

If you put a new spider in it, it will be a pretty snug fit. I just put a bunch of new parts on mine. The spider got trashed when the engine mounting bolts loosened up. I had the engine off, so I just kinda slid everything back together. I split a cord or so yesterday. I'm going to head outside in a few minutes with some wrenches and see what's still tight.

I did talk to Speeco, and asked about a different replacement engine. The BS on the 22t is a bastard made for Speeco, with a 2.75" shaft and a weighted flywheel.

Lovejoy couplers are pretty forgiving, you can use a straight edge bridged across the 2 shafts in 2 places, 90° apart. Does not have to be precise. Can you see where the motor or pump was bolted during the original assembly? Some times the bolts will make a mark that you can follow.

Piston ring compressor. ;)

Nice. Mine went together so snugly that I don't think it would have made any difference.

Now I'm off to the hardware store because the bolt just broke holding the wedge on the cylinder rod . It's taken me a week so far, to get this last two cords split.

Make the replacement a Grade 8 or better.

I was thinking of that, but I would rather replace the bolt than wear out the hole in the ram or the wedge. I suppose all the bolt really does is pull the wedge back. I'll try another grade 5.

put the lovejoy together and then muffler clamp it as to hold it in one piece. Mount to motor, then mate it to the pump. Tighten the motor bolts, then the pump bolts. Perfectly in line. Oh- then remove the muffler clamp.

That's good advice, I've also used worm gear clamps. Set the clearances to about .040" all the way around if you have feeler gauges. A C

I suggestd the piston ring compressor just because it attaches/detatches easy and is cheap if you don't already have one. Muffler clamp works too! (The SS band type)
