I had an hour to spare this morning so at least I got started. This is how it looks after the splitting was done:

Here is the first row getting started. Notice that I don't have to move the wood much to where it gets stackes. I did almost finish this stack before I had to stop so I'll have to post pictures later. Much later.

EDIT: Too many pictures came out but in edit I can't tell which is which so they will have to stay. Two of the pictures are in there twice. Sorry about that.

That is one cool pile of what looks like mainly ash.

For sure there is a lot of ash in that stack. You will also find some elm, cherry, soft maple and pin oak. The ash though it probably 75% of the stack.

Proof positive, she is smarter than us! Nice vid on the horse today.

Don't worry, SOMEONE will tell you if you repeat a picture:mad:.

fv :)

;lol You are right there fv.

That right there is such an awesome feeling. Having all that wood c/s/s an knowing you did it, and .......well, all the other stuff that goes with it.
I need to get off my lazy butt and get some of that done too.

Looking Good Dennis. Im sure they will be some of the straightest, squarest, and perfect stacks. That we will see for years...

Always a pleasure to see the fine art of your end stacking... Always..

Fine job on the heap, Dennis! Couple of billion BTU's just waiting to heat your domicile. Very nice. Now you switch modes and become a stacking machine.

Good grief Dennis. One hour? I feel lazy now, for the last hour I watched the Knicks play the clippers and had a beer. LOL. God bless.

I wish I had that luxury; Don't have as much open space here. I have room for a few rows close to the splitter, but that's it. The rest is moved with the quad trailer to where it will be stacked.
You can even move your processing area around. Mine is now bare ground with about 6" of bark covering it. ;lol
Looks like you are kickin' butt there, Dennis...good work!

One hour? OK, maybe the hydraulic splitter really is a little faster than splitting by hand.

NIce going Dennis...
take it easy with that back friend..
how much wood do you SWAG is in that heap hausen?
chuck

There's a couple cord there for sure Chuck. ;)

looks great. How about a wood crop circle or maze? That should take a little more time.

One hour? I need to get me a hydro splitter too. Nice pics too.

Looks like good weather to get started stacking.
Looks like you're gathering poles to stack it on. What type of wood do you use for the poles.
Why don't you like using pallets?

Dave, I usually cut maple for the poles. I think there might be a cherry or two in there too. I just do not like the looks of pallets stacked up after the wood is gone. Also, I've known more than one person who has got hurt while getting wood when the pallets broke. But to me they, or most of them really make an eyesore. Pallet Pete gets some that are better and he gave some to me; even delivered them. I plan on putting some in the barn (dirt floor) and nailing or screwing osb to them.
