Just stacked up the last four cords of oak and ash I had, and know I am done hunting for wood until next year. I have in these stackes , black walnut, black locust, red oak, ash, cherry, hickory, and maple. I estimate that there is 18 face cords of wood 8ft L 4ft H 18W. There are two rows there with about a foot of space in between for air to circulate. There is also alot of pride in those stacks and I will have a beer tonight and just look at them lol.

Some excellent work there tiger. However, why are you done until next year? Especially seeing you have oak in those stacks and oak needs a lot more time to dry than the other wood. Get yourself 2-3 years ahead and stay that far ahead and you'll never be sorry you did. Your stove will love it too.

Well, I see a round there next to the pallets that isn't done yet. WTH?
Slacker.;lol
Honestly though, nice work. Feels gooder, doesn't it?
Yeah I will finish up that Maple this weekend Papa Dave, Thanks for noticing lol

Well the stack on the left has oak thats going on two years seasoned in fact all that wood is going to be two years old this winter. Plus because I had a small insert I had to split really small. The stack on the right containes wood from the same lot as the stack on the left and also wood thats been split since this spring mainly Ash, and Maple. Now the stack on the right is split much bigger containes bigger rounds because I knew I was going to buy a bigger insert and did this summer. I have no idea how much wood I will go through this winter with the new insert,, with the old insert I averaged 4-6 cords a year with it so that would put me in the three year ahead range. Trust me if I can get free wood Ill never say no.

looks real nice.

The real work this summer was the stack on the right, had to relocate it to its current location and split larger for longer burns in the new insert. I will be fireing up the new insert tonight just to play around ( it will be down to 45 degrees in Michigan tonight). Whats funny about my stacks being so long like a fence is and I never knew deer did this is deer love to lay behind them in the woods. I cant tell you how many times ill walk out to look at my stacks because I have no life and the deer will pop up and take off. I guess they think its a safe place to lay.

Nice work...but you are never done...never...gotta keep scrounging and where is the wood shed? Gotta build a bigger wood shed and fill it up
just gotta keep going... Sorry...my name is Shadow&Flame and I have a Firewood problem...:(

Nice work, that should keep the bulldog nice and warm this winter and next. I can almost hear him/her snoring by the insert now!

A thing to be proud of most certainly. Like bogeydave said, the urge to gaze upon your work never wears out until it is ashes in the stove.. LOL. Good job! And thanks for pictures.
