I've already started a thread about getting a stove and it got fairly sidetracked. Still going to fix up my furnace better but I would still like a stove. Looking for a multi-fuel stove that looks fairly nice. I'm leaning to mainly these two, which would you prefer of these two or another model.

I like the simplicity of the Greenfield and it's about $400 cheaper, but only 40,000 btu. The Regency makes me nervous because everytime I ask a local dealer for a price on one they recommend I get a different model, I know it's the same as the Enviro M55 cast, but none of my dealers sell them and won't know anything about them. I'm also nervous about the warranty and availability of parts in the future.

Thanks

If the regency is the same stove as the m55 I dont see why they would talk you into a different stove. My M55 cast free standing worked flawlessly 24-7 November to march. Only turned off to clean once a week. The self cleaning burn pot worked awesome as well as the thermostat hook up.There are a few others with the M 55. Hope they will chime in.

By the sounds of your layout. I'd be looking at the bigger units.

Parts and availability shouldn't be an issue as the major components are the exact same as the Enviro M55. They even carry the same part number. Sherwood Industries is the actual stove maker. Regency just adds their badge to them. Same as the GF55 which is the same unit as the Enviro Meridian. VistaFlame also markets Sherwood Industries units.

Is the dealer suggesting the GF55 or a totally different brand(St Croix)? If its brand, IMHO Profit margin is the most likely reason. They like to push what they make a better profit on!

Head to an Enviro dealer and get a quote on the M55, I bet its right in the same ball park as the GC60.

No Enviro dealers in my whole state. And all the local dealers don't know anything about them, they will always recommend Harman or Quadrafire.

If they sell regency? You should be able to get one. Contact Regency customer service and give them the scoop. They might be able to apply some leverage. Harman and Quadrafire are popular HHT units. Probably more comfortable for the dealers in your area to sell. Regency probably isn't as popular with them. But if the dealers are displaying Regency banners, They should be able to price and market the units. I'm sure Regency would like to know if they aren't!

They give me prices, they just always say we don't recommend Regency because of reliability and mention how it's not even made by Regency. I know it's supposed to be a good stove, just makes me a little nervous buying one that I'll never see and dealers who know nothing about it. But I do like it, the one place has a pretty good price on it, I believe.

Many members here have the Enviro M55 and I see a few with the vistaflame VF55. There may be a few Regency owners too? Maybe some of them will post their experiances with their units for you. Besides some initial quirks with my Omega(same guts as the M55) its been a beast of a heater. Clean it once a week and keep it filled with fuel. Lights every time(No misfires!). Best of all it isn't pellet picky at all. And if I want to I can burn other fuels.

What are they saying about the St Croix? Same poopooing as the Regency I assume.

They haven't been as critical, jut usually recommend Harman or Quadrafire. Which I like Harman's, but there pretty pricey and wanted a Mutli-fuel stove. Don't think pellet stoves are very popular around here, don't know why when in most rural areas we are limited to propane.

When I bought my beast the dealers in my area where poopooing them. I jumped in with both feet and no life vest. 4 years later still very happy with my unit.

just starting my second season with the M55, no problems at all. It does exactly what its supposed to do every single time.
