Jeez, yeah, a little spendy indeed. I realize you're in Alaska, where everything costs more, but I get kiln-dried firewood here for $250 a cord c/s/d.

If I remember right he is in Jamesport, unless he moved. Those are North Fork prices !!! lol

yeah....its whatever the price will bear up there. pretty much just like everywhere else. although, the bag delivery is pretty clever.

Lotta rich people on LI, I could see the upper crust spending that to have some wood for a fire in their fireplaces on a cold night.

Wood is so dirty, they have those fancy fuel oil trucks deliver every other day.

He actually has some decent info on his facts page.

Probably most of the sales are aimed at convenience stores or gas stations.

I don't think this guy does the convenience store thing. He's delivering to Manhattan townhouses and Hamptons mansions.

Pricey for 25% wood. I do like the fact he knows his product, and is willing to state same. He is in business so best of luck to him - thats the great thing about a free economy!

I bet it's hard to get good firewood up there. His reputation probably speaks for itself. I can see some rich guy trying to get a nice fire going on some cold eve or a holiday and the darn thing won't take, then he hears about this. Priceless.

Lots of people will pay for convenience. It is convenient to find a nice website, prompt delivery, quality product, and I bet a nice, polite person to answer the phone. Sure you can find the same thing cheaper, but only if you shop around, know good firewood from bad, and deal with a few lousy dealers until you find a good one.

(Note: I don't really know that any of the qualities I list above are applicable to the dealer the original poster listed. I am just making a point)
