Feeling the Heat

Big box store has pellets on sale for $184.50/ton plus 11% rebate, net $164.21/ton. Got a ton tonight and think I'll go back for another. Wish I had a bigger truck and more storage.;hm

Good deal!! What kind of pellet?

Yup Wisconsin, they're Pennywise (Marth) or Indeck. I have a ton of Indeck to try but until I do I'll stick with the Penneywise. They burn good for me less heat then Uncle Jeds and a little more ash, but, my bottom feeder doesn't care.

jrsdws, have you ran any of those Indecks yet? I tried a bag to see if they burned but never ran enough to know how they compare to Jeds or Marth products. I might have grabbed a pallet of those tonight but I saw moisture under the outer plastic and didn't want issues. Maybe tomorrow I'll look around for a dry ton.

Yep....don't really like them so far. They seem to be lower heat and higher ash than the Somersets I'm used to. I'll burn them in the shop where the heat demand isn't as high as the house and I'll mix them with corn. The pellet ash helps keep me from getting big clinkers. Hopefully your Harman will do better on them than what I've experienced.....be interesting to know.

I would be buying pellets at those prices also. I have been working near a stove shop that carries Turman and for the last 2 weeks ive been picking up 10 bags a day on my way home from work to build up my stash. I finally hit 5 tons and the wife noticed the 7 foot wall in the garage and told me to stop.

I'll have to get a pic when I get the next ton. I was sure the missus would say "enough already" but all I got was "I think one more ton will fit if you stack it higher." For a woman who was against this stove she's really warmed up to it.;lol

Have you trained her to clean it yet er shown her ?:)

She has not warmed to the cleaning part as of yet. When I first put it in she wouldn't touch it, but when I went off to deer camp for a week she kept it filled for the entire time. She buys the oil I buy the pellets;lol. Been a year and 3 days since we last saw the oil man.

Neil, How do you like the Pennywise?

Every time I try a brand different from Jed's I regret it. The dust factor is a deal breaker for me.

They are dusty no doubt about that. Not much for fines in the bag maybe a tablespoon. As far as ash it's hard for me to tell the stir rod keeps most of them blown into the pan. I think Jeds are hotter but I get more black soot with them ran at the same level. So if I cut the feed rate back for a clean burn the heat is about the same. Jeds by me are going for $230/T. so I can burn alot more Pennywise and still save money.

Pennywise are a pretty solid 2nd place down here. Heat is close to Somersets, just more ash.

I'll store them for you. I'll even burn them for you too. :)

I will have to check out the Menards ad. (11% tipped me off as to which store).

bbfarm, punch in your zip online to see what they're selling for, prices change between here and Mad town. Baraboo sometimes has way better prices then Madison. Sale and rebate ends Saturday here.

All of our Menards has pellets at $3.54/bag right now. A couple of weeks ago they were $3.39/bag. Lots of Pennywise and Indeck. Goofy how it varies that much. I'm about 3hrs south of Madison so those pellets are traveling farther to get here than there.
