High Temp Tape

Just had a liner installed and the installer caulked the connection of the rigid out of the stove to the ss flex and wrapped the connection with 2" tape appx. 6" wide. I know it is a high temperature tape but the backing of the tape is similar to duct tape and gives off a nasty odor. Is this toxic? Will it eventually go away by burning the backing? I've got a call into the installer, jusrt looking for opinions.

Is this wood stove? What kind of caulk was used?
Tape on woodstove pipe...... NOT GOOD

Down East in the old forum you outlined the Outside air issue Can you re post your ideas there are so many new menvers that never heard of your theories

Caulking joints anything used on joints has to withstand 1200 degrees
What you are smelling is the adheisive burning off on that tape the only HVAC tape Iknow for hight temps is used on pellet stove Vents
and even that is only good for 600 degrees

I also suspect they used RTV caulk again you are smelling it being burnt only good for 500 degrees

3 screws anf joints pushed in tight as Dan East said is all you need
