I cant stand my burnpot to build up ash in it ... I clean the ash several times a day .. Does anyone else do this ? Or am i the only one ? I know in a HarMAN notice spelling lol you can let the ash build up and push it over the edge .. I never let it get to that point LOL HELP ! Do I need a couch ? Help me ! It seems if I let the ash build up the fire is not as strong am i wrong in that ? Its like I need to keep those air holes clean !

STOP! Put the scraper down, shut the door, and step back. Leave the thing alone.

Eric

No, no Eric, aversion therapy is called for in a case like this.

That is where you teach them not to play with hot things by allowing them to play with the hot things until Ouch occurs.

Continue Maniac, you do not need the couch, you need the Ouch, once that occurs you'll stay away from hot burn pots and fires.

I only clean mine every other week these days. But i hear the Harmans have issues with this needing to be done more frequently. Still, 3 times a day is obsessive. you're probably just wasting heat.

if you try scraping the pot with your bare hand I'm sure you'll do it less frquently ;).

DISCLAIMER: This is not a real suggetion!! This is a comedic response! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

Should read..... But I hear the Harman OWNERS have issues with needing to REMOVE ASH FROM THE BURNPOT frequently. LOL

Maniac, I understand your desire to keep the burnpot clean and I started out like that. No need to do it 3 times a day though. I typically do it once a day but more because I want to try to minimize the carbon buildup than wanting to remove the ash. I run in room temp manual typically and the carbon builds up faster when in maint. burn in between calls for heat.

You can play with it till you need glasses.......

After that you need more light.

Get help....I suggest 2 tons of Vermont's, Or Summerset's.

P.S. Anyone know where i can get a pair of those led glasses with bifocals? ==c

I clean mine a couple times a day, and scrape carbon once a day. It is the only way I can get a bright clean burn. If I let the ash buildup and push over he edge my flame narrows up and gets a little lazy, with a little smoke on higher temp settings. I run stove temp only, feed #4 heat setting #4-#6, depending on the weather. Been through all the gaskets, replaced some, others are fine. I am burning Ambiance hardwood, and don't like them really, find I have to fully clean the stove once a week, and there is alot of fluff all the way through.

I think you need a new fetish. Lol. There are plenty of ways to satisfy fetishes online ;)

I follow the advice of Ron Popeil - set it and forget it it, for about 10 days anyways. Somewhere around 10 days of running I dump the ash pan and give it a quick once over. Other than that I just make sure its well fed and let it do its job until the time comes for a deeper cleaning, which will probably be around the end of this month.

I like to play with my pellet more. Don't have enough time to worry about ash. ;em

Then again my Fahrenheit yawns at the thought of ash ;)
