I went through 169 40 lbs bags. OCT 11 bags, NOV 16 bags, DEC 26 bags, JAN 37 bags, FEB 40 bags , MAR 23 bags, APR 16 bags. I have 9 bags left over this year. I had 3 left over last year and I used 147 bags . How did every one else do?

4 tons. 3 bags were ripped and lost a few pellets, 1 was wet and I have 2 bags left.

4.5 tons this year (well, I still have 5 or 6 bags).

Nov thru April. Used approx. 2.5 tons.
Have 65 bags left for next season.

Nope the pellet stove is my only heat source except for a small oil filled radiator heater in the upstairs for the kids bedroom on low. I heat about 1200sqft of an 80 year old farm house to 69 or so during the day and and 64 at night. I live is SW Washington State so our winters are pretty mild, maybe getting it to the 20s for a couple of weeks.

Wow ,you guys who only used 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 tons
did you have another heat source?

We used about 100 gallons of oil to keep Mom's bedroom (on it's own zone)
and master bath around 78F from nov to feb, other than that, the pellet stove was
our only heat source.

The room the stove is in stayed around 75F.

little over 2 1/2 tons, with 32 bags left over, since pellet prices are at there lowest price have since re-supplied back to 3 tons for next year.

The usual... 4 Tons....
even though it was a mild winter I left the stove burning 24/7..
One thing that is important here too is the temp the house was at...... The room the stove is in at my house was about 78*... Mrs.GVA likes to be toasty, after years of freezing with NG......... :)

The last part of January and all of February were the coldest in 10 years up here in Northwestern Pennsylvania. I wish we had the same weather we had in December every winter.I plan on buying 4 tons this year ,up from 3 in 05/06 and up from 3 1/2 this year.

Harman P61A is my primary heat source. Went through 5 tons this winter and still have 1.5 tons left over. Have an order with pelletsales.com for another 5 tons. I like having some extra on hand.

Freestanding Quad Castile, primary heat source in MN. 3 tons plus 3500lbs of corn. It gets cold up here! Never did pay over $170 a ton for the pellets, didn't buy all of them early either (got lucky). Paid $1.90 a bushel for the corn, now it's over $4. Can't wait 'til next year.... Thanks ethanol.

190 bags so far, had to use about 175 gallons of oil to keep pipes from freezing. Whole house temp (except crawlspace basement) rarely dipped below 70-72 running Quad on a thermostat.

Have 5 tons of Barefoot stacked nice and neat for next year.

6 tons to primarily heat my 2100 sq ft home in northern Vermont with my Enviro Empress FS. We kept the main part of the house 70-72 degrees all winter. Reduced our propane usage (heat and hot water) from over 1700 (heat 60-65 degrees) gallons in '05-06 to about 450 gallons in '05. We saved well over $1000 on heating fuel (I have not yet factored in the extra electricity).

This year I will buy six tons, but spend a lot more time tightening up the dirt floor/stone foundation and other problem areas of my 100+ year old farm house.

We burned 165 bags in our first season running a Harman XXV. Propane for central heat (forced air) + wood pellets + increased electricity usage was more than we spent last year on central heat only, but the temperature in our home averaged 5 degrees warmer for the winter. All in all we're quite happy with pellets after a year!

(shopping for 4 tons for next year...)
