Feeling the Heat

It's sitting there staring at me. We got 14 inches of snow on top of the 2 inches of ice I already have on my roof last night.

The new stainless flex liner from chimney direct is sitting right beside it.

Here is a picture of where it's going in the house hopefully sometime in the next week. I still need to move a few things from around the hearth/fireplace.

Is it going to sit inside your fireplace?

Well, fire that badboy up outside, break it in, and melt the snow off the driveway, and your neighbors, and their neighbor....

I thought about it but I need to take all the firebricks out to move it inside. I need to chop 3-4 inches off the legs while it's in the garage as well.

Be careful cutting down the legs - may not meet code or stove warrantee??

I already cut them. The short leg kit would still have been a little to close. I cut the legs so that the ash pan is about 1 inch off the bricks the stove is going to be sitting on.

It will be fine.

My big problem is this is the roof I need to get on.

Rocket, how did you cut your the legs?
I have a similar set up , only wider. I feel I'm not getting enough air over the top. Plan on the chop the next warm day. BTW don't get discouraged about heat output on the first good burn. That brick mass will suck up a lot of heat , but will repay you later in the day ! Made one medium fire at 6:00a this morning , thermostat is showing 70.5 at 4:25p :)

I cut them with a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder. It was more of a pain to get the pedestal off....;lol

That brick mass runs all the way into my basement where my current stove is running.

I'm hoping that brick mass will keep me at 3 mediumish loads of wood a day.:)

Is that a double sided fireplace or a mirror in the back?

Wow that's a big piece of masonry as well. I want to see a pic with the Englander in it now. It well help tide me over. We're getting another 4-8 inches of snow tomorrow night.

Supposed to warm up a bit this weekend and that will melt the snow off my roof.

I will never forget the strange look on Bob Pennington's, the fellow that designed the 30-NC, face when I told him I had stuffed one into a fireplace. The expression told me that he never dreamed that some nut would do that. ;lol

Anxious to hear how it heats for you in there.

And what you will be singing.

If I start you up
If I start you up you'll never stop
If I start you up
If I start you up you'll never stop
You've been running hot
You start ticking gonna blow my top
If I start you up
If I start you up you'll never stop
You make a Blaze King cry
Stuff in the Oak, but nothing green
For a long hot burn in a mean, mean machine
Start you up
If I start you up
When I kick in the air, give it all you got, you got, you got
You compete with anything in making heat
If I crank you up
If I like it I can slide it up, slide it up
Don't make a Blaze King cry
My eyes dilate, my lips go green
My stomach's quesey
You're a mean, mean machine
Start you up
If I start you up
Give it all you got
You will never, never, never smoke
Never, never
Crank you up
You make a Blaze King cry
Toss out the heat, that I really need
Take me to temps that I've never, never seen
Start you up
Love the day when you will never stop, never stop
Never stop, never stop
Heat you up
Never stop, never stop, never stop
You, you, you make a Blaze King cry
You, you make a Jotul weep
You, you make a PE pee

Details . Hmm. I just crammed her in there, with 6" liner and home made block off plate. I'm heating 2500sf T shaped one floor house built in 1951 . House faces south with a lot of glass , so we do get good solar gain when the sun shines , but loose it all at night with the old windows.
There is only about 1/4 inch gap between the top of the stove and the top of the fireplace opening. I am going to put short legs on , or trim the legs to get more air from the fan blowing over the top. I had planned on the shorter legs or cutting , but I just couldn't wait to get a fire going , now I don't want to let it cool down.
I was freaking out about an hour into the first good fire when the thermometer wasn't jumping like I thought it should , that was the big stone BTU bank charging up, it hasn't been cool since November 2nd when I made the first big fire and turned my thermostats off.
I'm sorry about hijacking , just got exited to see someone as crazy a I .

My house is only 1900sq ft ranch that is very well insulated. Built in the mid 80's. I'm thinking it should do alright.
