I sold my 98 F150 last weekend and am now looking for a new(er) truck. I'd like to stick with a Ford, preferably a regular cab f250, but they are virtually nonexistent here in the Valley, at least models less than 10 years old. I've seen a few and have talked to a dealer who has one I really like in the Binghamton area of NY, but the thought of traveling 6 and a half hours and pretty much having to decide right then and there what to do is one I'm struggling with. Suggestions and advice appreciated.

Just FYI for the GM fans out there, just for the heck of it, I've done the same web searches for Chevys and GMCs and they're no more common than Ford regular cabs.

Most of those nice trucks in Bingo come from down where you are. That's why you can't find them locally. It's an interchange hub for sales to the rust/salt belt.

I was looking around for a f2/350 with a 7.3 (last good diesel they put in 'em) or a good 460 last year. I wanted a 4 or 5 speed, 4wd (last good 150 4wd was in '95), and NO options. I looked for months. I even looked at GM products. Everyone thinks their old beat to hell truck is worth more than it is around here.

I finally settled on another Ranger (I have now had every engine family other than the diesels) for more money than I wanted to pay for one. Still can't do what I need to, but at least I know them like the back of my hand, and can keep it going myself.

The other thread jogged my memory, but I find a truck, and yes, it came from above the Manson-Nixon line. 05 F250 4x4 regular cab. Runs good, transmission shifts good, a couple of cosmetic issues that you really have to look for that I will deal with when it warms up.

My 97 F350 Powerstroke came from Texas. 200,000 miles and clean as a whistle.

I find it hard to believe you can't find one.
I had an 03 F350 single wheel with 57,000 miles for sale for 2 years. Had it in the paper , on ebay and craigslist for 2 years. Not one single person came by to look at it.
No rust issues. the stone guard on the bottom was coming off but no rot. Had it replaced and painted before I sold it.
KBB low private sale value at the time was mid 11K
I ended up giving it away for $7500 when I sold it. Sad to see it go cuz it was a great truck but I was tired of feeding that pig. I bought an S10 and trailer with the proceeds. Does everything I did with that F350 , better on gas and a lot easier to load.

Beware of buying a used truck in the northeast, lots of road salt. You might want to consider looking down south, maybe take a busmans holliday to Florida.

I found one, but as I said, it did come from above the Mason-Dixon line, Pennsylvania to be exact. It's not perfect but not bad for the price. I looked extensively to the south, but there was nothing that I wanted to the south at the time I was looking. That being said, there is a very good looking F250 diesel regular cab, probably a '95-'97 sitting on a lot here locally right now. I didn't want a diesel but if anybody you know is looking for one, let me know.
