Some where in my many postings, probably too many, someone said to try the TSC cheapos. And also somewhere I told someone in the forum ( can't find the post right at the moment) that there was no such thing as pellets for under $5.00 around here. But I got to tell ya and they are just fresh in the hopper so time will tell but I got TSC ( AgriRecycle) hardwood premium pellets for $4.69 and it looks like they are burning really good in my p61. Nice base to the flame, plenty of heat. In fact in Stove Temp mode the house temp is going up from where it was all day on Okanagan Premiums. I scooped most of them out to get these hardwoods into the hopper fast, I had to know if they even burned ! I know it's early on but I'll update along the way here. I also know I'm not the first around here to hit on these but I am pretty new to the stove so all these little discoveries are still thrilling !

Just keep an eye on your "Speedbump." Some pellets will leave a little more build up in the zone near the Harman lower burnpot holes...

I found that actually with the Okanagan Premiums just before I put in these TSC pellets. A ridge line of carbon right there, not high but there. Of course I have no idea what these green bag things will do but they burn hot and have a beautiful flame so far. Could be ashy as all get out for all I know. we shall see. Hey, cheap enough !

I do not get any carbon buildup using Selkirk DT. Does anyone else find this on their Harmans with DT?

If the price is right and the quality is acceptable, then good score.

They seem very acceptable for the money. They build a cheek of ash that kind of hangs around in each corner but I've more for pellets that do the same thing. At least it is not sticky or heavy ash and the center is clear. i just ramped the stove up for the morning with LaCrete on the bottom of the hopper and these on top. I'll use them like any other pellet, great deal.

Maybe in the future I'll find out but for what I paid for the existing lining I'm not ripping it out any time soon. Standard OAK will have to do, even that I think will be next year not right now anyway. I have to snow blow my driveway in a few minutes so my tenant can get out. Yes Cape Cod gets snow ( I'd say there is a 3 ft snow banking, if not higher, at the bottom of my driveway) ! We were on generator for a little while last night but the crews fixed it up pretty quick.

I do. Amount of buildup varies depending on pellets.

I have only been using Green Supreme and Cubex and a few bags of Okies since I got the Harmys. What pellets give you the black carbon buildup?

i can't speak for the guys who have DT vent installed. I get a narrow ridge line out of the Okanagan Premiums. Fireside Ultras give me some carbon. Before that I'm not sure because I wasn't really paying attention to carbon build up but at my first cleaning I had quite a bit on the sides of the burn pot. I want to say POINTE did that but really am not sure. Scrape daily and it's a non issue anyway.

I haven't tried a pellet yet that doesn't leave some sort of carbon buildup. Some less then others. I have tried gt, gs, newp(same as gs), mwp blend, mwp soft, mc, I think a couple others. Just can't think if them right now.

I guess it's a matter of how soon maybe ? Oakie DF's take a bit of time to form much of anything. I don't really care actually, as long as they aren't some sort of horror show and they make reasonable heat., When I fill I scrape, then there is no carbon.
