Hi I'm new to site but am wondering if anyone can point me in right direction. It is difficult to find info. On such an old stove. The stove is a 97 englander 25pdv. I'm having trouble with the burn pot filling with ash and clunkers. It seems like the stove is getting plenty of air to burn pot...runs great for about eight or nine hours with a bright active flame. After this time I have to scoop out burn pot. Has to be done around twice a day. Does not matter what the feed rate setting is at. It looks like the problem is it is not getting enough air under pellets to eject ash once they are burnt. The flame is fine until ash builds up and new pellets continue to build up in the pot since the ash isn't getting ejected to the sides(this stove does not have an ash pan). Is this just a bad burn pot or wear plate design for this year? I see the later burn pot has many more air holes in wear plate and bottom of burn pot to allow more air under pellets. Any info would be greatly appreciated as I don't have money to replace the stove and would like to keep this one going. I have checked the door, glass and hopper gaskets. Stove and vents have been thoroughly cleaned. Combustion blower removed and cleaned. Not sure how old the exhaust blower actually is on this stove but if it's burning fine till the ash build up I was assuming the motor is running up to speed. Has an oak installed. Control panel has been updated to digital one at some point in the past. If I change the low burn air settings it does not help eject ash out of pot on settings one and two. Thanks, Jason.

Don`t all the PDV `s and PDVC`s have to be tended to twice a day in regards to pulling the ash buildup out of the burnpot?
Even my Harman burnpot (which ejects ash quite well) needs scraping and ash buildup attention daily.

Thanks for the reply..i thought it was suppose to eject the ash to the sides of the burn pot where there is plenty of room for ash to be stored. The pellets do not dance in burn pot and the air holes get clogged up pretty fast. I just thought that having to scrape out the burn pot at least twice daily was too much and inefficient since I am constantly scooping out half burnt pellets.

You shouldn`t have to be scooping out half burned pellets if the stove was burning properly. .
Is this old used stove a recent purchase or have you been using it previously and was it running fine at one time?

The stove came with the house I bought last year..it has never been running properly. I got in contact with mike from englander he's pointing me in the right direction. Leaning towards a problem with the exhaust blower or a partial block in air inlet inside burn pot.

Well, you got the man who knows the stove better than anyone else. .

Yea sure do...I just got a piece of metal coat hanger, bent it and ran it through the square hole in the burn pot under the wear plate and pushed it back to where the air comes in. The newer Englander stoves have a different burn pot design. Mine cannot be removed. Couldn't tell if it was clogged up hopefully it was and this cleared it up. Just fired stove up. Will see if this did the job.

So woke up to a full burn pot this morning. Guess the coat hanger didn't do the trick. Going to try a new combustion blower, maybe the one I have just isn't spinning as fast as it should. I believe it's the original motor so it's 17 years old. Maybe it's a few hundred rpm slower than it should be.
