I have had a regency 1200 insert for 2 years. It helps with cutting down on the oil bills but it doesnt cover all our heat requirements and the wife says shes always cold. Im looking into putting another stove in our finished basement and have decided on the timber ridge 2200(same as the nc30). However my friend told me yesterday that one of the local shops is selling off all there fireburners and only gonna be selling heatpumps and gas burners. That store sells napoleon wood stoves only. If you could have either the nc30 or the napoleon 1900 for the same price which would you choose? I went to canadian tire to look at the timber ridge the other day and the only one i seen has that ugly gold lip trim. Would I be able to take that off?

That napoleon 1900 is a very nice looking stove and sells for as much as $2500. I would think its a class or 2 above an NC-30 which is kind of a simple plain jane sort of stove. Also the Napoleon is a lot more expensive than the NC-30 normally.

There are several details that separate these stoves. The Nappy has full shielding, nicer latch, a bit tougher baffle, but ultimately they will heat about the same.
Yes you can remove the gold trim. It's bling added to distinguish big box brands from others.
