Those were some real finger smashing chunks of wood...so how much cordage-wise do you think you got out of that pile?
Thats real wrestle mania.

so how much cordage-wise do you think you got

So far about 4 cord and still a bunch of big stuff to go.... I really thought it would be more. I'm guessing about 2 more cord in the big oaks and 2 or so in silver and red maple. Still not a bad haul for free including delivery. I think once in a lifetime hitting the wood lottery.

Man, those are some nice, hefty chunks! Hope they fit in the stove without cutting again. I haven't had anything that big to split for a while, love getting into the zone on the big chunks. Beat on it for 15, 20 minutes without stopping. Nice.

no hydraulics used here

I take my hat off to you (and all who split by hand). I split aussie hardwoods 24" long and >24" diameter like the round you are sitting on using a 40 ton hydraulic splitter, and I simply can't imagine doing it by hand. It near kills me using the splitter!

Expect at least a half cord from the two rounds that make your throne. Maybe even 3/4 cord, in those two pieces.

wow that's the motherload

wow that's the motherload

Yeah man! Once in a lifetime score. I should have bough a Lottery ticket the day they dumped the wood.:p
