ALOT cheaper just to fire up the oil furnace again.

Not a pellet burner here... Whats a normal bag run you guys?

Depends on brand and quality but usually from $4 - $7 per 40lb bag.

That price is just a little less than I buy 4 1/2 tons for
and they are delivered . Spring per buy this year is
289 ton for cubix a little more than last year but not outrageous
=5.78 a bag

I bought 6 tons of Okanagan Douglas Fir which are a high end premium pellet for $345 per ton or $6.90 per bag.

average is 229.00 ton at big box stores & up to and well over 300.00. ton for top of the line Pellets.[usually means less ash and hotter] but some think the smaller the pellet, the more they fill the burnpot therefore producing more BTU's per hour and some of the top of the line pellets are Small Indeed.] But That's debatable, especially here

that's 50 bags per ton if doing the math so $4.00 -. $7.00 bag, give or take, is General price.
Many stove owners get " Early buy" specials starting now in the spring and Some get the're tons for less than the 229.00 box store prices Depending on Brand which is best way to buy and stock up for winter.

Wow that is pretty crazy. Looks like someone was trying to capitalize on the pellet shortage I've been reading about.

Not everyone has the space to do so, but the best way to avoid late winter shortages is to stock in the spring when pellets are plentiful. Alot of places even offer discounts if you buy early.

They say it ships free UPS ground. If I shipped 2,000 pounds UPS I would want a thousand for them too. >>

They will probably show up via UPS in 50 individual boxes!

Yea, if you have heat pumps like I do, you'd be hard pressed to justify $6.90 a bag for pellets, whether they are 'super premium' or 'super junk'. That's just ink on the bag. Only when the heat pumps start running 24/7 trying to cope with VERY cold temps close to freezing does it make sense in Georgia to burn pellets. Now if you're burning propane, then it's another story as they seem to think propane is gold down here. For TimfromMa, it's a different story since his alternative is oil, the cost of which 'has necessarily skyrocketed' over the last 5+ years for some reason. I still, personally, would not have run out and bought 6 tons at that God-awful price.
I bought 2 tons from Yoder's Hardware in Fairplay, SC for $250 including tax and they delivered the 2 tons for $11 total. Down your way, you should see Rockwood pellets, which are 'super premium'. A couple of years ago I bought them and was very impressed with the low ash and high heat. Rockwood pellets are made in,,,,,,,, wait for it........... The Rock, Ga.

Bought 4 ton Ambiance today, delivered at $5.68/bag. WoodPellet.com wanted $6.02/bag for LG Granuales. Hope to offset $ this Fall at BBS for a few more tons.
