I just had one taken down like that in front of my house. It was starting to die at the top and every storm brought down a few dead branches. It's a big boy, the butt is 40 inches across - I'll be doing lots of noodling with my 18 inch huskee. Actually may try to rent a bigger saw from a local hardware store for the day.

I just don't need it... But I still want it... wish I never saw it...

I would pass on that for a number of reasons. The first being the risk of felling so close to a house and public road something could go wrong even if unlikely. My other concerns would be all the branch work involved (potentially alot of brush cutting and haulin) and the fact that it is a yard tree, watch out for metal!! But the wood does make it tempting.

Looks like a good one. I'm curious whether he thinks it's 20' diameter or 20' high. Either way he is waaay off.

I see these on CL every day. This guy has a tree that will cost him about $1,000 to remove, and he thinks he will get it done for the firewood. Not gonna happen where I live. That is a full days work to remove for 2 people.

Another CL joker thinking the tree is made out of gold. Is paying 1k that much when the other option is some other joker coming over and felling it into your living room? And why does he post a picture of the backyard if the tree is in the front? Nobody cares that you have a pool.

Probably pinoak. That's some tough splitting once you get up to where the branches start.

There are amish tree services in the area that would drop the tree for probably $100 or less. You could tell the poster you'll come get firewood only once it's on the ground.

At least it is not one of the ads that ask for payment for the privilege of removing their tree and cleaning up their yard.

If he gets someone to cut it down I'll haul the wood away. I'll even leave him the small branches for his firepit for free.

I think he needs to learn how to read a tape measure.
That thing is much taller than 20'.
As close as that is to the house, ain't worth the risk.

I think he is referring to the trunk being 20 ft and straight, no doubt the tree s more like 40 or so.....
He is a fool to let some novice do it without insurance......

Hey Bubba! Hold my beer and watch this.

I'd buy the house pending tree removal. Or I would just have somebody trim it back really far.
