Got the Quad IR crusing right along...but I've never seen this much secondary combustion.

I'm assuming this is completely normal?

I've just never seen the secondary rip like this.

I mean the secondary has filled like 90% of the firebox. Never seen this much with this stove or the Dutch West.

Looks nice. That is how she burns.

Yep ,crazy how good it burns with seasoned wood eh?

What kind of wood you burning?

I started it with the tunnel of love using sassafras and elm. Then pilled sugar maple and oak in. Let it get to 500*, shut it down 50%, then 10 min later down to 20%, then almost choked it completely. It ran like that for a long time.

I've just never seen that much secondary before. The picture didn't do it justice, of course. I mean it looked like the primary was CRANKED. But the flaming of the wood was real slow and lazy.

Yes, that stove puts out quite a light show. Beautiful, isn't it?

It's better than watching the Cardinals bullpen fall apart at the moment. That's for sure.

Dry wood rocks. Now imagine if it was cooler and draft was even stronger? I can sit for hours in front of my stove and watch the show. Some people say I have a problem...

You don't have a problem, watching secondary burn is a spiritual experience it's nice .

I'm still blown away at how much secondary there was. So much more different than the Dutch West.

Wait till cold weather and you light it up and she hits 650f before you catch it. Then you slam the primary closed and it takes off to the moon. It will hold your attention I gar-own-tee.
