I envy your view! I caught a glimpse of the LADEE rocket from my backyard, just barely over the treetops... a tiny straight line-ish object moving at a very consistent arc over the horizon. Going to be looking tonight, knock on wood no delays!
 
I am heading down to the Ocean City Inlet to take some pictures after work, I wanted to drive down the beach on Assateague but my permit has expired for the year :(

I can't wait, they say the setting sun could illuminate the rocket and trail since it is an early night launch, that is going to make for some awesome pictures.
 
Oh wow yes, that would be pretty amazing. Should make it easier to see from afar too. It's been clear skies all weekend, hoping it stays that way tonight...
 
Very cool . . . do you think this will be visible this far north as well?

When my wife and I were on the Grand Bahama Island one year we were able to see the space shuttle take off . . . granted it was from a distance . . . but it was still pretty neat to see.
 
You folks are lucky, I've never seen a launch. I do like to watch the Space Station go through whenever I can, though. Saw a 6 minute one the other week with a clear sky. Never get tired of it. :)
 
I saw a space shuttle launch once from Palm Bay, FL just south of Cape Kennedy. It was spectacular.
 
Launch was scrubbed! Stupid boat in the ocean downrange. Did get to see the ISS fly overhead though.
 
It was a nice night to be down next to the Ocean, stunning sun set. I am going to try and go back down tonight, launch is scheduled for 6:22pm barring any boats getting in the way.

What I find interesting is it looks like they have no legal repercussions for a boat that gets in the way, I was hoping that boat would get a huge fine or something.

Damn....didn't see a rocket, but through the clouds we had a decent aurora display....
 
Well that sucked! Rocket exploded shortly after launch.
