Anyone ever vented this way?

I ran a Mt Vernon like that and it would not run on low. There just wasn't enough draft. Once I made a vertical run of about 8' it ran great on low.

I vented an Enviro Windsor like this and it ran well, just added a UPS on it for an occasional power interuption.

Another point with the direct venting like above is that the money saved in vent pipe can be allocated for a UPS. I intend to direct vent the PC45. Cheaper and easier even after you get spanked for a UPS. not to mention the quick and easy pipe cleaning. Three feet is way easier to deal with than bends, clean outs, and long runs.

Ours is hooked up this way also. No problems and easy to clean out

OP, your avatar is like you were in my backyard. We have eagles that land in our pine tree too
