I assume you experienced this with the pellet stove door open?

So every pellet stove I know has its flames die down when the door is opened. That's because the exhaust blower works like a vacuum and normally pulls air up thru the fire pot holes. When you open the door most of the air pulled by the exhaust blower now comes thru the door opening, causing the fire to die back, and no smoke will come into the room.

If you are experiencing sparks with the door open when pellets fall into the pot, try opening the hopper feed lid first, leave it open, wait 30 seconds and then open the door. On the modern stoves this will stop the auger from dropping new pellets.

There is also a Vacuum sensor that should stop feeding pellets when the main door is open. If you are worried then a service tech can check that for you.

never had a problem with pellet stove but have had a with my harman magnifire coal

I know it is highly unlikely, but it has happened twice. The stove is less than a year old. I may just call the place I bought it from and have them check it out.

Something's not right w/ the stove, you should call the dealer purchased from and discuss with them / have them check it out.

My flue is straight up and out. 16'. Im on the highest point of my 16 acres, oh yeah, I really need trees.... Constant wind.. 50 mph is rare, but 30 is common. No issues at all...
