Getting 4 tons of Lignetics Premium delivered for $870. That includes the 1 ton I won and delivery. I think it's a good deal.

Wow - nice score!

Congrats on the win - nice price for 4 tons!

Great to win a ton of pellets! How did that happen? So $290/ton for the remaining 3 tons, right?

Guess that depends on how you look at it.
First, they had a Facebook contest. My name was chosen for a free ton. We figured we would buy 3 more tons and be set. Keep in mind, this place is 40 miles away. Delivery for the 4 tons is 165. The total comes to 870 for the 4 tons. Buy 4 tons elsewhere and have it delivered and tell me what it costs. I think we did good.

165 to deliver four ton, that's terrible. Good thing you won the ton congrats it more than evens things out. I got 3 ton of blazer df at prebuy for 299 each and a 57 flat delivery charge. Comes out to 318 per ton delivered for a top shelf pellet. Now the prices in mass for the same pellets are between 329 and 359 per ton depending on your location. May save half of what I get and only burn during coldest days due to drop in oil price. Filling the tank at 2.06 per gallon this week.

my dealer charges 35.00 ton delivery then 15.00 each ton after...that is reasonable..

Definately reasonable, my dealer does one flat rate of 57 for my zone no matter how many ton, luckily they are 25 miles away. Everywhere else I called back in April when researching for this season was either 35 per ton or 100 flat rate. Very happy with my delivery charge. I have a truck but it's not worth the wear for 57 dollars. If I had to pay 40 dollars plus per ton with no way around it I would definately pick it up myself

OP here....also, my truck just broke down so I have no free way to claim my free ton without delivery. Lowe's is 259 plus 75 shipping this year. I have seen higher delivery rates. I still think we did good.

You definately did great imho. If you didn't win the free ton however did you still plan on buying from that dealer? 40 plus per ton for delivery is steep. It maybe just me though, I can't justify paying that delivery charge.

No. Last year we got 3 ton delivered from lowes. Delivery was 75. I think they were 239 then. Now they are 259 plus delivery. HD is 269. They are 2 of the cheaper that we have been seeing this year. And considering we are on the very edge of their delivery area, I think we got treated fairly.
Can we buy 3 tons with delivery cheaper......probably. But factor in that 4th ton and I doubt it.

Definately not going to disagree with the total cost factoring in the fourth ton free, that's great. I was just curious if 40 per ton for delivery was the norm in that area because it seems very high to me.

To be honest, last year was the 1st year we had them delivered. And that was 3 tons from lowes for 75. Now that their tons are at 259, that seems pricey. From what we've been seeing, 40 seems average for delivery for the first ton, then additional tons at a discounted rate.
If my 1 ton truck would feel up to it, I'd be picking up a ton at a time, but age has set in.

Makes sense congrats on the deal it's good to see someone from this forum win a free ton

Bottom line you scored good this year. Well done.

It's still $290 a ton. I don't know if that's a good price where you live (PA).

Doing the math on 3 tons delivered from lowes, it would be 855. That's 285 a ton, and I know a few other places are higher than that.
