Hi Guys,
Im getting ready to build a boom loader for my splitter and need some advise. I need to buy a lifting cylinder and am looking at the Prince Wolverine 2.5 x 24". Has anyone used this line of cylinders? What do you think of them? Crap or decent for the price. TIA.
 
Prince - yes. Wolverine - no. I suspect that you will be fine. Prince makes good stuff and you are talking about a cylinder with limited cycles (its not like it is on a commercially used bob cat). I would go for it.

Wolverine is there imported line-not sure but likely China made. However, they stress that seals are North American sourced.
Seals are often crappy in China stuff, so the NA seals are a plus. Does not say if the piston has acdtual seals, or orings and backup rings.Hopefully seals.
Prince is good mid range stuff. Mobile and agric equipment level. Not heavy duty steel mill and bulldozer, but really good consumert level stuff.
As Jags, a boom is hundreds of cycles, not thousands or millions, and pretty low loads and pressures and duty so its worth a try.
I made a lift platform, which I would recommend over a boom hoist. I use it far more as a staging spot for 5 to 10 rounds and it saves a lot of time.
