I just bought the husqvarana racncher 460 w 20in bar on amazon.

the bar itself was slightly warped. I straightened it out. its pretty close but has a tiny bit of warp to it still if you sight it.

I emailed amazon see if I can get a replacement bar. How perfect do the bars need to be? I assume after they get used you might develop some warp?

If it had come assembled you would never know it was warped.

The bar should be straight. Bent bars will make the saw cut untrue, which is terribly aggravating in bigger wood.

Yes, the bar MUST be straight. With a bent bar, cuts will curve and you will be super frustrated plus the chain will wear excessively. If a bar gets badly pinched or jammed when cutting, you'll get a bent bar and you have to fix it or replace it.

How slight is slight? And what diameter logs are you cutting? I was a commercial logger, our bars would get bent, sprockets would wear out and we'd replace the tips, and straighten the bars. If your bar is worn, a bend is less of an issue, if you're cutting through large diameter logs , a bent bar affects the cut. Are you felling trees with it? are you using a standard raker profile on your chain? If you're lopping off truck loads of logs 12" in diameter and below, a 20" bar with a slight bend will be OK. The most import factor with a chainsaw is chain tension and sharpness.

The bar needs to be straight. As others have said when cutting big wood it will be a pain. It is harder on the chain and possibly more stress on the sprocket.

I would just tell Amazon it's damaged and to send a return label and you want to return it. You can get one much cheaper on eBay from vm innovations. They usually have good deals. They sell new/returned/factory refurbished items. they have a new power head missing the bar for $369 , just buy a new top of the line bar and chain and you are still ahead.

Or get the same one as refurbished for $383

amazon is best of the best when it comes to customer service I emailed them and they are taking care of it and then some.

I am using it for home use, few cords a year probably max 20 to 30in diameter trees...whatevers free.

when brand new obviously I want it perfect, so new one is needed. As to how warped it is, it was too bent at first, after straightening it out, when you sight it its almost straight on one side, and a little warpy on the other, just slight.

The reason I asked about it, its slight enough u certainly would never see it when its installed, and it got me thinking if u pull the bar off anyones used saw I wonder how imperfect they are.

Anyway they dont want the bar back so the cheap guy in me wants to keep it as a spare but for $50 or whatever it is I should prob toss it... ill post a pic next time I have it in my hads, just for reference.

Keep it. It can be used as your second saw in an emergency situation when you get your bar pinched. Just pull the head and attach the second bar to cut the original free.
