I did al lot of hollering and screaming when my new wood seller delivered me wet wood in June and told him I had paid $250 for seasoned wood and his reply was well it was cut 10 months ago and I said to him well was it split 10 months ago and his honest answer was no. My answer was I should have lkilled you yesterday. It was way past 35% on my moisture meter back then, and he siad it would be Ok by burning time. I said it better be or else? But true to his word this wood is now at 25%...still a little high, bu not as bad as it could be. I have a small firebox with my 13nc Englander so Iusually split the splits in half a week before they are to go into the stove. They mesasure an even 20% before they go into the stove and work just fine. Some are less than 20% and some are just over the 20% M.C. So the only reason I made out OK is that wood is now $50-75more / cord...

I have this old timer neighbor that likes me alot and he has a friend that has promised to sell me all his short hardwood scraps for a 30 pack of beer...for a full pickup truck load of hardwood. Can't beat that, but I have been very nice to my neighbor by plowing him out in the winter and loaning him tools he doesn't have....Sometimes it pays to be nice.

Ya, you have to watch out. Everyone in NH is in the firewood business this year. Some don't know what they're doing, but some do thankfully.

What is the axle for? Trick or Treaters?

Is that 30 packs of beer to fill that pickup truck or a pickup truck full of wood?

your title confuses me, I figured it was gonna be a thread about some dog pissing on a guys woodpile and the dude bites it

JoeyJ:

I totally get it. "Man bites dog." Kinda genius. Like "Less is more." Or, "In giving, I receive."

Sometimes a little spark makes a roaring fire.

Most dudes don't get it. Life is a paradox.

Grandma used to say, "Darkness (in the universe) prevails. Light is the exception."

Do it yourself or pay the piper. With the title, I've bit my other dogs and bit my one I have now. If they either try and nip me (playfully), I'll give it back and they know the alpha. With the post, I've done the same, it won't be great, but it will work. Last fall I had downed logs and limbs that I had to rush to split because I needed to use some that winter. Not too much hiss and the chimney was pretty clear this past checkup. Green this fall, you have the work cut out for you. Once you act like a few on here including me :) you will be good to go as you will have next years plus some sitting and drying.

Has someone already written "The Tao of Woodburning", or does that yet remain to be done? Rick

It's already been written and just needs to be deciphered from these forums. I'd like a "linear" version please.

You got me there dude... My English wasn't exactly clear...Bad sentence Structure...so yeh, I'll clarify, I have to have the Bud light Truck drive to the wood owners house and empty the beer truck into the wood sellers refrigerator......But I think that is still a good deal, don't you?
