Turning off circ when boiler is cold but storage tank is hot...

I know I've read posts on here about how different people have gone about this- but despite many searches and scanning many many posts I can't find them today. Can anyone point me to a post/thread on this?

Basically, the fire burned out in my Tarm last night but the aquastat that controls the circ pump never dropped below 140F (its on/off point) since the tank was in the 150 to 160F range.

Seems to me that drawing from my storage tank to heat the water jacket/boiler to 150+F is a wast of my precious reserves!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me to a relevant post/thread as I learn to drive my new system.

I use a mechanical timer that shuts all power off to the boiler. figure out how long the load should burn and then add a hour or so to be on the safe side. I am sure there is probably better ways to do it, but this seemed to be the simple way for me.
 
I bought a $20 digital timer on Amazon.com to shut my EKO off after 8 hours of on-time. The one I picked up can be programmed a number of different ways so you can even set it up to burn half a load and shut down.

Eventually I plan to pick up a differential set point controller to actually sense when the water temp starts to drop on the tank return. That's when it should really shut down....
 
new to the scene. i have a used tarm in the process of setting up. what do you guys use for storage. this site has been unbelievably helpful. i'm really leaning towards building my own due to I GOT NO MONEY.
