Feeling the Heat

I could be wrong here but shouldn't the flames be somewhat short and jumping around and not going to the top of the stove? I'm currently burning lignetic hardwood and adjusting the air to a higher setting doesnt seem to work either......just an inferno in the burn pot.....any ideas?

it will burn tall for about the first 30-60 min while it gets up to temp.

i ran the lignetics last season and they did burn a bit higher/bright than my other brands i ran, but i wouldn't call it an inferno by any means.

did you try lowering the air?

Thats a thought I always had myself. MIne burns high like that so never turned the feed rate higher than 4 really, I couldn't imagine what size the fire would be after that. Even at heat setting 2 i would say that i got a big flame (3/4's of the way up?) i was originaly set at 6-4-1 and just changed it to 4-4-1 which has made for a smaller fire overall but at times it will get large. intersesting to see what others have to say. I know my breckwell burns completely differant but then again the chamber is much larger so the fire may be the same size in reality???

I think most stoves run on high for a while, lots of cold metal to heat up. Mine runs on high until the thermocouple reaches 600 deg. ,then cuts back to where I set it ,medium.

I agree with ya, but this thing burns the same on all settings........just seems like there is to much fire, maybe time to throw in the white towel.

I had some larger than normal flames a few times last year and found that my ash pan was not shut properly letting in too much air. check that maybe ?

Awh, Don't give up, You will get it. I think newguyjoe might have it. Check for a large air leak. Door seal or something like it. If you get flustered walk away for a bit. We will help ya thru it.

Hemi, I feel the fire is always on the large size to, like when pellets are dumped in it burns high the starts getting smaller, then fed again it grows huge, no matter what the heat setting is, I found it all the matter of how many pellets are being fed in and the lag time between big and small fires. As I said I adjusted my feed rate to 4-4-1 and actaully feel that it is a smaller burn compared to when it was at 6-4-1. Try adjusting these settings to suit your needs. Hey if ya want I can take that hunk of steel of your hands for $100 ;)

Try closing the restrictor plate at the bottom of the hopper a little it. That may help you tone down the burn rate some.

Just loosen the bolt, and slide it to create a smaller opening at the bottom of the hopper. Be careful not to close it too much though, or you may not get enough pellets feeding into the burn pot. A little experimentation may be required. For me, it seems that the longer the pellets, the more I need to open up the plate, and vice-versa. I usually move mine everytime I try out a different brand of pellet, due to pellet length.

Hope this helps.

sometimes it happens , you are dealing with electronics, its rare but it happens in every industry which uses digital equipment. we try to catch it in tech but you simply will not catch 100% of the issues. board will be to you in a couple days , see how that works out , if you are still having issues get up with me personally
