Buck stove help needed. Any users?

I have a "Lil Buck" used as an insert. I already know I have draft issues which will be resolved soon, but there's more.
This is my first exp with a Buck and I'm used to a newer small EPA stove. The blower is extremely loud, and it doesn't blow a steady stream of air out the vents. The air comes out in spurts or buffs. Before install I replaced the gasket for the fan motor housung and cleaned the blades and did a test burn outside. This was a freebe from a family member. All air chambers appeared to be clear of any obstruction. Is this normal or did I miss something. I will be pulling the stove out in a few weeks for the new liner and would like to fix all issues then. Any ideas?

It's an old stove and the blower sounds like it's on it's last leg. Maybe you can contact Buck and see if there is a replacement out there?
 
sounds like the fan to me . i clean mine out a couple times in the burning season. i take it out and blow it down real well with the air compressor, I'm not positive, but it seems to work better when i put it back in. i know someone with the bigger buck stove that doesn't blow as well. the temp on that stove soars higher than mine . i get mine up to 900-1000 never over that. with my experience this stove of mine likes air through it and would definitely overheat with out it on . i notice on slow speed the temp goes up . best of luck with sorting it out. Do you mean the fan comes on and off? If it does this is normal until the fan reaches operating temp. then it will stay on till the stove cools.
 
I used to have one of those. Sounds like the blower motor needs to be replaced. Mine used to get pretty dirty. However, I'd check the fan switch for a short or a bad ground first. Your best bet is to call Buck; they've been very helpful to me, with both the Little Buck and my current Model 91.
 
I don't have a buck but it does sound like the blower. When you pull it out check it, a lot of blowers need to be lubricated and have a small hole or two just for that purpose.
 
I have a big buck. Mine has a 3 speed fan thermostatically controlled. It is only a fan sound, obviously louder the faster it operates. It is also a steady stream of air when on. It does however get stuck between speeds sometimes. When that happens you need to put it on manual (high), wait for a click, then return the switch to automatic.

The fan stays on just not a steady flow of air. I found an online manual and read about the fan cycling during the cool down phase. I thought maybe the blade was spinning on the shaft, but during testing while it was in the garage I ran the fan on manual and it seemed to work just fine. When I pull it for the liner I will really do some testing maybe it sits to close to the back wall of the hearth and doesn't have enough room to work and I can slide forward a touch. We shall see.
