After you get it off there is probably some corrosion around the fitting.
Wire brush it off and if you have some put some never sieze around the fitting before putting it back together.
Next time it will come right off.

Well i bought the wrench and still not able to get it off. Is it supposed to twist off or does it just pull off? I concerned that i am going to break this thing.

Your comments are much appreciated.

Wow....the clean-out cap usually comes right off. Is this a new T, or been on the stove for a while?

Oh, btw, it's supposed to twist CCW about 1/8 turn, then pull/wiggle out.

I never got mine to come off after about 4 cleanings last season. Ended up buying a new one this fall for $53 at Aubuchon hardware. : ( I have learned with the new clean out tee, twist it to the left and then pull down. Lefty loosy, Righty tighty. Hope this helps.

Sydney, right before the next time you plan on having the cap off, go to the auto parts store and get a small container or tube of anti-seize (also called "never seize"). Put a thin film of that on the cap where the slots are that "lock" it, and you shouldn't have any issues from then on getting the cap off.

We use that stuff all the time on the race cars for things that cannot ever bind, or stop moving.....but it IS a bit messy (we use latex doctor gloves when we work with it....LOL...looks like a bunch of surgeons running around the shop).

Thanks macman, glad someone is looking after me.

I have been using the copper anti sieze compond. It is rated for high heat and seems to wash off the hands a tad easier than the silver aluminum Anti sieze. I bought the push up stick(like deoderant) and its less messy to apply.

NICE! Jay, I never saw it in a dispenser tube like that. That's perfect for a homeowner.

If I remember where I bought it I will pass that on too. But I got a blank right now. Must be all this pellet shopping lately. ;-)

Or old age?

I just went down stairs to find it and snap a photo of the thing. First I forgot the camera. Second I will be darned if I know where I put the thing.

What was I looking for again?

Ahhhh! must be time for bed!

I think I got it at the autoparts store. Anyone that sells loctite should be able to get it for you. Rated for 1800 °F
