Hackberry info

Way quicker than oak, not as fast as ash. If I was in your shoes, I'd split it smaller than usual, and make sure I had it in the sun, and in single wide stacks. I think that would get you to 20% or lower by fall with hackberry.

I've got 5 or 6 on my property and a whole line of them along the alley way where it meets a stone quarry. I'd rate it way above the likes of cottonwood, boxelder, willow, and a bit above american elm and black walnut. I give mine about a year to season.. stacked now it maybe ready for next season depending upon the size of splits. Seems to maintain it's heft after seasoned, splits decently. Easy to identify via the unusual bark.
