Well,

I just got off the phone with a farmer who I have a deal to cut wood for. He has an OSB to feed, and I have the Freedom. So I cut 'em down, limb, and buck into 24' sticks. He then drags them out to the landing with his grapple excavator. A cord for him, a cord for me. He picks his up with the grapple and I cut them into 2' lengths to feed the boiler.

For my share I hire a log truck to bring 'em to the house where I can buck & split as I have the time. Last time it cost me $225 for the log truck, plus a healthy tip for the driver.

Anyhow, this load will be for 2013-2014, so I am finally getting ahead in the wood game. Found the deal on CL, it pays to look around.

so you are about to pay over 200 bucks and cut 2 cords to get one cord? maybe I'm missing something, but that seems to be a bum deal (maybe it's location)

CT-Mike what type of wood is it?

I would think that since he's having a log truck come out rather than using a truck and trailer he's getting a lot more than a cord at a time.

Yes, sorry I wasn't more clear about it. I am getting 8 cords out of the deal for the price of cutting 8 cords for the landowner and $225 to transport the load to my house.

The wood is yellow birch and oak so I can't complain too much.

Mike, I would not complain either. Sounds like a good deal for both parties.

wayyy better deal after hearing that. I figured i must have not understood. You just meant for every cord for him you get a cord. Good score.
