sharpening angle of RSC chain

Ok, so I got some RSC chain that I hand sharpen at 30 degree angle, just what stihl recommends. I took some chains in to the chainsaw shop to have them ground to true them up like I do every so often. Well the guy tells me he sharpens at 25 degree angle as it always works better. I told him Stihl recommends 30 degree on this chain and that I have good luck with that angle. So of coarse he grinds them at 25 degree. Now, they won't cut worth a crap compared to when I took them in. Its just terrible. I did file down the drags too. I'm getting large chips too. And it vibrates like something terrible.

Do you think its the 25 degree angle? They said thats the way they sharpen all of them.

What do you folks think?

30 here too.Ripping chain either 10 or 15 degrees depending on what I'm milling at the time.
 
I ran 25 and 27 on the advice of some cutting buds, and didn't care for it much.
It might hold up a little longer but the speed ain't there, and that's the only reason to run RSC over semi-chisel anyhow.
Never noticed any difference in rough cutting though.

Did you use a raker guide or just drop 'em?

I run 10 and if I am cutting down a cross cut chain I start at 25 and keep increasing 5 degree's until I am at 10.
 
Hey Jay or anyone else thats familiar, I just picked up a maxx grinder. I can't wait to see what it can do. Is there anything special about the profile of the grinding wheel itself? Square or round or something else? Seems to me like it would need a certain profile. I run a lot of stihl .404 chain.

Any good how to videos?

Heres a link to the grinder on Baileys, no I didnt pay 420. I can't believe that the thing is over 400 beans. It was used off CL.

tilt 60 degrees and angle 30 degrees. 404 chain did you buy the adapter for the 404?
