Now that I have had the new Summit running for a couple of days, I have noticed a little whistling sound coming from the stove. I can not tell where the noise is coming from (chimney pipe, door, somewhere else?) Is this normal for the stove? Or do I have a leak somewhere in my setup. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with that stove, but it sounds like there is a venturi effect happening somewhere. That's where air being drawn in is funneling through a small area, speeding up and causing the whistling. You can take a plastic tube, put one end up to your ear, and use it like a stethoscope to see if you can find the spot where the whistle is coming from.

When the fire is going strong and air is cut back, there will be a sound of air being sucked into the stove. It is somewhat subtle. Is the sound you are hearing a higher pitched whistle or more like a low-pitched sound of air rushing? Does the sound get more noticeable when the air control is closed than if you open it? If so, this is air rushing by the intake.

We get expansion and contraction pops and stuff, but the only steady noise we get is if we have a good ripper going and then shut primary air down to the stop.. get a weird "low hum" open the air control even a 1/16th of an inch, say 5-10%, and it stops... or I can just turn on the blower, which will drown it out with it's own low hum.. lol.

Yes, the air intake is close to the front on the Summit. You can hear the air rushing by the intake when its opening is reduced. No problem. Enjoy the heat!
