I might end up cutting down these trees to try to have them seasoned for this Fall/Winter. Are they ash??
It is the tree truck right near the white bucket. I'll try to get a current picture later today.

Looks like Beech to me! Of course if your photos where a little closer we could be more certain.

Bill, you have to get a closer shot of that tree. A couple would help. Take on at about eye level and another further up the tree if possible. But just from the posted picture it does not look like ash. Have you looked at the pictures I posted in your other thread? There are a couple of pictures there with a closer view and I think you'll find that yours is not an ash.

nrford is pretty darned good (better than me) at ID a tree but I'm not sure I agree that this is a beech. It just looks the wrong color.

I agree with Savage, better pics are in order. A shot of the bark and some twigs would be nice. Leaves would be ideal but I doubt you have leaves in Maine. We don't have many here yet in central Pennsylvania.

It doesnt look like ash but its hard to tell from that pic.

Looks to me to be something that if c/s/s soon will be ready for burning by fall/winter.....

Looks like Hardrock Maple in the foreground... :)

If I HAD to make a guess, I would say that the tree behind the bucket is Beech

I would say with 75% certainty based solely on the bark that the tree is not an ash . . . based on your previous descriptions of the leafs and this bark I would guess perhaps it may be a beech . . . got any pics of any leafs . . . I realize the tree hasn't leafed out yet . . . but any dead leafs near the base or in the forest litter?
