I used to let the boiler cool down and then fill it till water would flow out the overflow as this prevents any air pockets that might lead to some surface rusting as you should have a additive in your water. Once every couple months check the water level and run your circ for a couple minutes to move the water and exercise the pump. Remove all ashes and oil the steel. 5 gallon bucket over the chimney to prevent water entering the boiler.
 
That's a pretty good list. The only thing I would add is getting a good test on your water and making sure the chemistry is where it needs to be. Just dumping in the gallon you buy from the manufacturer doesn't cover all the bases. I saw one a couple weeks ago that had only 5 seasons on it and it looked like somebody took a shotgun to it. Full of pinholes from the water side into the firebox.
