My husbands gone hunting and so what am I doing? Uh huh Splitting and stacking next years wood. We had our first light snow and it's got to get done. My two teenage daughters are helping and we are getting a lot accomplished. I'm proud of the girls, when they grow up they will know how to work.

sounds like a trophy wife to me

That's awesome. Do you have an unattached sister? j/k ;-P

Nice job. I just got a somewhat Trophy buck (at least for me, a 9 pointer). My wife cannot stand it but I told her that I already have a trophy wife and I am trying to get a trophy buck. We boys enjoy our trophies.

Damn, was hoping for pics! ;-P Cheers!

Hey, golfandwoodnut . . . what do you call it when you stack wood like in your profile pic? Does it really help it dry faster?

Good job:)

You need to post more, join da Sistahood !

Well done!

If the wife leaves me and the boys alone, we like to do the same thing (inside) and let her come home to a place that's all shined up and a well cooked dinner. Normally she does the cleaning, but if she's busy nothing like coming home to see your job is done for you to know that what you normally do is appreciated and others want to keep it up too.

I've heard of this before but have never actually experienced it. This philosophy of the wife processing firewood is as common at my house as a Bigfoot sighting.

You must've been speaking to my wife! She runs around a lot for a marketing/ promotions sideline she has, and we (I) tend to be oblivious to the things that are left undone.

Trying to work on that!

That's awesome! My wife helps but she is sick this week. I did get out hunting tonight.

Ahhhh . . . when the wife is sick for a week . . . best to get out, hunting, something, ANYTHING!! :ahhh:

But seriously, Mine only fills in on the rare occasion that I ask her to, which is usually just a 'go check and put in some wood' . . . and I'm fine with that. A wife should know how to work hard, but be rarely called upon to do so. The term team player is often overused, but it's one of the most important features of a trophy wife.

I can vouch it does happen. I have a video of my wife splitting wood. Better than that I have a video of my wife weedeating the bank behind the house. She doesnt know about that one and i regularly show it off since I took it with my phone.

Ok, so you were seriously hurt/sick so she had to do your work . . . but you were well enough to sereptitiously take videos of her doing so? :smirk:

Anyway, back to the OP . . . . You ROCK!!!

That's good to hear :) Nothing wrong with helping keep the home warm as the heat benefits all who reside within.. If I am not around and we need wood they usually bring enough in to keep the stove running until I get there.. I do try to fill the inside wood hoop so there is always enough in the house..

Pic's or it never happend...It all sounds good but if it sounds to good?

I had the Easter Bunny washing my jeep and Jessica Simpson whipping up a flan in my kitchen this weekend

Hey - its just as possible as my other half splitting wood, so go with it.

Joking aside, good on ya! Just cuz your a girl doesn't mean that you aren't every bit as capable of keeping the cave warm as the dude is.

Nice work tlingit. That is the best thing for kids. Learning how to work. I have mine help whenever they are not busy helping Mom with something. And the best time is when we all work at the wood together. Moving and stacking it gets done quick with all of us helping. The kids learn more than they will know for a long time when they are spending time with their parents and learning something much more important than the video games or TV. I turn that TV off every chance I get. Have a good one. And keep up the good work. Isn't it some of the most enjoyable work you have to do? Moving and stacking wood. Peace and quite sometimes and add in some tunes most of the time.

I'm taking her word for it. Considering this is generally a male driven forum its always nice to hear stories like this.

Dang!! And she told ME she was staying with G/F's in the City shopping all weekend!!

picking up wood would make you more of a practical wife. A trophy wife has duties much more personal. My humble opinion :)

Bless you . My step daughters are all learning the whole wood stove regimen. The youngest is 19. They all love starting camp or bon fires after the 'boys' have had a crack at it. Quietly efficient and very effective!

The 19YO has been eying my Dolmar 5100.... She'll be getting some lessons this Winter ; )

It's great exercise and way more fun with 2 or more.

ATB,
Mike

I thought a trophy wife was one that looks good, but isn't good for much. I wouldn't call you the opposite, 'cause that'd imply you do good work, but look bad, lol.

I don't know what to call you...maybe just the wife of a lucky guy...

I took our splitter to a neighbor's house. The husband just got a new job and they needed some wood split now. So who did the splitting? The wife and daughter. Stacked it up nicely too.

Just because the plumbing is a bit different (thankfully) does not mean a female can not split, stack or even cut wood.

That's the holzhausen (spelling?) stack. A few claim it speeds drying but that has been debunked. They look nice but take much more time to build. If you want wood to dry fast, split it small and stack it where wind will hit the sides of the stack. Wind is your friend when it comes to drying wood.
