Hi! I was spoiled by the Lignetics "Green Bag" pellets I got last year. There was a very low "ash" product ... I was able to burn almost half a ton before I had a major ash built up in the burning chamber, and barely 3/4 of a cubic foot of ash for almost a ton of pellets burned.
Now, for the "Nation's Choice". It is hard to get a "large" flame with these pellets. I have burned less than 10 bags (closer to 6 or 7), and the ash build up around the burning pot forced me to clean the stove. It was difficult to get the accumulated ash to fall through the grate into the collection drawer. When I was ready to dump the drawer, I had a hair less than 0.2 cubic foot of ash. It has taken a while to get a good burn on the pellets in the stove. The greatest performance problem I have, is getting the pellets to feed reliably. The stove tends to "burn out" due to "pellet/fuel" starvation ... the auger will draw a narrow cone of pellets, then it dies out ... the pellets will not fall in on themselves. The next time the hopper empties, I will tape the corners and wax the sides, but this does not seem to be the cause of the feed problem. For some reason, it seems as though the pellets naturally stsack up. out of maybe 6 bags burned, I have seem only 1 pellet that was longer than an inch long. I have learned that if I put my hand in the pellet hopper and smooth out the pellets in the hopper, the fire does not starve itself out when I get up about 6-7 hours later.
Hope this helps anyone that is left with only "Nation's Choice" to burn this year!
