pellet prices are getting a little absurd. why is that. first 2 winters i had my stove it was $180 per ton now its $220 per ton. why is it going up so much and is it expected to continue to climb? will prices eventually settle back down. right now im buying PA pellets from a local supply yard and its $220 per ton. im hoping that pellets remain more price stable.

You may look into stocking up in the off season. Trying to find deals on pellets when the demand is greatest doesn't work so well. Supply and demand play a key in prices. As does the cost to transport the pellets to market.
In my area I can find the same pellets I burn all winter for $20.00 a on less right about the start of fall. If I had the room I would sit on 3 or 4 tons.

Last year was around $200 for us here in OHIO and this year they're $178.00 or 3.99bag. Guess i'm lucky!

Around here Lowes sells AWF for 175/ton. Home Depot sells Wood Fiber Inc for 190/ton. The local stove shop ranges from 194 for Pro Pellets, 225 for Somerset and 249 for Uncle Jeds. None of those prices seem very out of line to me when fuel oil is 3.62 a gallon.

Was just at my local Lowes and the price went up to 224.50 from 197. They have Pres-to-logs, Green Supreme and North American.

Pellet prices rise in the heat of the season. Kind of a fact of pellet burning. Just wait cus we aint seen nothing yet!

Sorry to hear that too! I heard a story once that a group of filthy thieves would read obituaries and then target the families during calling hours and funeral services. So wrong on so many levels.
