New problem and need help please..

I am building another 064 from a crank case I had left over from the last build..

I need a coil for this 064 build and I have been looking on the bay.. I noticed that coils listed for the 064 can be used on other models..

A sample list I pulled off the bay.. 024, 026, 028, 029, 039, 034, 036, 038, 044, 048, 064, ms240, ms260, ms290, ms310, ms390, ms340, ms360, ms380, ms381, ms440, ms640

So this caused me to go grab a 034 coil I have laying around and it does not fit... So my question is if this is a late model 064 with 066 head bolt specs is it possible that I need a 066 coil..

Now I do not have a ipl for the 066 so I am assuming that the coil from a 064 and 066 are different...

Here is the part number for the case half.. 9 1122 021 0700

Any info would be great thanks....

I'm not adverse enough to say on Stihls but look for Brad Snelling on the arboristsite. He will know for sure or I can give you his # in a PM.

Went out to the shop and tore down my 064/066

It has different holes for the coil so I tried the 034 coil.. Bolted right up and the saw runs fine...

I take the coil from that saw which is much larger in the house and it bolts right up on this case half.. So I am still on track...

Two pistons or just or just 2 plugs?

I can't remember what it was for the life of me but I think a dual cylinder chainsaw came to one of my GTGs.

It's at the top of my "most wanted but the wife won't let me have it" list. It's an Echo 610EVL, aka the "Evil Twin". Google it. It is indeed a "boxer twin" style. Very smooth running but nothing special on raw power. I think Deere had a version too but dunno the exact model #.

More than likely Deere's model is just a rebadged Echo. I haven't googled that, but sounds cool.

I wanna say 55EV but that just doesn't make sense. Old fellow I know has one but he wants a fortune for it with a bad crank. (Parts still avail, but pricey)

EDIT: Little bit of research say the 66SV = CST610EVL

66 sv it is

he also has a 55 ev

and a old mac that i have no idea of a model..

Bet that would be an easy coil swap....lol

Hey anyone got a good 064 crankcase they want to sell????

Started this with a crankcase with a crank a muffler and a flywheel.. The crank was bad and replaced just to find out the case is bad also.....

When I get done with this one I will have bought every piece but the muffler and flywheel.. Well I am thinking of getting replacements for them as well just so I can say I built this from parts off the bay!!!

edit: I did grab a coil off one of my 034's... I'll replace that too!!!

This CAD is makin you whacky, man. Next thing you know, you'll be building a 30 year old saw out of NOS parts, just so you can have a brand new 0XX...

that is one heck of an idea!!!!!

well see I'm on the road a lot and while the rest of them are wasting their pay at the girlie bars I got a laptop and waste my doh on saw parts... Messing with the bay buying one part at a time takes up a bunch of time spent in a crappy motel...

and yes i do realize i would rather mess with saws then the ladies.. been married for 9 years ain't gonna mess it up now....

There definitely is some truth to that "idle hands" saying. That's for sure.

Ok so I had to get a new case cause a bearing spun the insert..

New case with new bearings and a few other parts ready to go...
