I'm almost afraid to post this for fear of having my head torn off, but I decided that since I have had trouble finding a decent price for pellets I would go to Lowes and pick up a few bags of Natures heat pellets and give them a shot regardless of all the bad reviews I have seen here. Now I think it is important to point out that most of those reviews were from last year or earlier so it was a different run of pellets. In the first couple bags that I purchased I didn't see any major problems with these pellets. The bags had almost no fines, and seem to burn fine for me. I know I'm not as picky as some people, but I guess I was wondering if anyone else had anything else to say about Natures heat pellets from this year. I am seriously considering buying a couple tons for this winter unless I find another decent priced pellet and would like to hear some more recent comments.

I burned them last year with no issues at all. I don't have any experience with other pellets, so I can't compare. I bought more this year.

Edit: That doesn't really help you any does it.

I burned 4 bags from Walmart last year and they were OK, I do like softwood better.

Had my first fire w/ them the other day. They lit right up and burned nicely. It was more of a test run so I only had the stove going for about an hour. Still, what little ashes they made never got over the edge of the burn pot.

Note: this is my first year burning but I say if you get a good price, go for it.

I burned a couple of bags that I got from Sam's club and think they are a OK pellet. Went back and bought a ton to mix with other pellets I was having trouble burning in my Quad. They stand behind their product so I don't think it is risky at all to give them a shot. They knew they had some problems last year and stepped up to the plate to get it corrected.

I burned 2 ton last year (first year burning), didn't have any problems. Didn't seem to be as much heat, quite, as the Energex.

The problem was from the year before last year. It was so bad that a Big Cheese came on here from Pennington and made good on ALL lot numbers that were bad and they didnt even make people return the pellet. What happened is they had a couple plants that were new and had equipment problems and produced some bad lots. BUT.... they made good on their mistake. Last winters were much much better.

hey, thanks for your responses. I think I may try a ton this year. I am still getting used to this pellet thing. I burned wood for a while, and then moved out of one house (using it as a cabin/lake house now) and the new place came with the Breckwell pellet stove. I guess I havn't burned long enough to be as picky as I once was with my firewood. haha

I know someone who burned them all last winter with no problems at all, hell I even bought a ton of them when the local Sam's club had them on sale for $209 at ton.

pennington did have some issues (as described in length here in this forum ), they also did as bkins stated , came in here and make themselves available to the public to resolve the issues at the customer level. i give them a lot of credit for doing that , they didnt have to. having worked with the folks in their home office and been treated extremely well during that visit im an advocate for giving them another shot. many new mills have issues and end up getting things straightened out (maine pellet in athens for example who had bad fuel and worked hard to make it right ending up last season with a pretty good pellet though the earlier runs werent) as always i recommend not committing to bulk without trying a sample if possible first, i would be quite suprised if pennington had issues after the lessons learned a couple seasons back. ive burned them since and have had good results, and the pellets i did burn were not "hand picked for me at their factory" i bought them here from a retailer so they wouldnt have known anyway.

same here...burnt 2 tons last year(first year>>newby) and had no problems....did try energex and gave off alittle more heat. Still have 2 tons of pennigtons left over and a ton of greene team....should be good

Bought two bags at Walmart this year to try them. They are a good pellet with little to no fines and they burn well. They have a guarantee written right on the bag. I know from the years past that they stand behind their products. I would buy a ton or two.

I would have picked up a few bags this year from Walmart , not for $5.96 a bag, I will wait until the prices drop. The local Sams Club already dropped there prices.

Bought mine at Sam's Scarborough for $212/ton or $4.24/bag. That was back at the beginning of August. They have since gone up to $5/bag last time I was there but they do change prices often.

I just bought some pellets from that Sam's and I requested the price you got. The guy who set up my membership said he couldn't do that, but to check back often because they are limited for space in that store, and they are always adjusting prices to clear space for new inventory. That's what that sale was, they received a back ordered shipment of 30 trucks all at once. As of Tuesday, they are still $5 a bag.

Still not a bad price for hardwood but right now, I think you can do better at Lowe's / HD if you take advantage of their multi-ton dicounts (then again, those deals may have ended yesterday 9/30?).
