AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY MEANS THAT PARTICULATE MATTER WITHIN THE
REGION MAY APPROACH OR EXCEED UNHEALTHY LEVELS FOR PARTS OF
CONNECTICUT DUE TO ELEVATED LEVELS OF PARTICLE POLLUTION.

THIS FORECAST IS DUE TO A COMBINATION OF SNOW PACK...LIGHT WINDS
AND MORE IMPORTANTLY...INCREASED NUMBER OF WOOD BURNING USED FOR
HEATING HOMES RESULTING FROM A RECORD NUMBER OF POWER OUTAGES
CAUSED BY THE HISTORIC HEAVY WET SNOWSTORM OF OCTOBER 29TH AND
30TH.

It's been crazy here in ct. You can drive down the road and think there might be a forest fire there's so much smoke in the air. I've seen so many fire trucks at people's houses it scary. Makes me. Devoid all these people burning not knowing what there doing. Firing up chimneys that haven't been used in years.

dont know what part of ct your in dude but in waterbury,ct the air is just fine. i am sure there are some
extra wood stoves going , here & there, but nothing to be alarmed about.
and nothing that i smelled as of 11/3/11

Nothing noteworthy about the air quality down here in the SW corner.
AFAIK, just the usual from the coal-fired plants in OH and refineries in NJ.
(Most down here wouldn't think of burning wood for heating.)
